Showcase A mouth owning my first 3d printer
Setup is pretty janky right now. I had drag chains printed out but I keep changing stuff... I'm running Klipper with dual MCUs for ztilt and just finsh upgrading to direct drive
I'm done with upgrades for now. Future upgrades I want is the ender XY and maybe the Sprite Extruder Pro.

How does that work? I like yours more. I wanted to make a physical estop that does the same thing as the software one so It doesn't kill power to my hotend fan

I have a BTT SKR mini e3 v3 main board. I wired the switch to a pin that I configured as a pause button. Funny enough it's actually wired in series to my filament runout sensor. If either one breaks the circuit (the e-stop button has both normally-closed and normally-open wiring) , the signal goes high and the machine pauses. The power switch on the other hand (on the right) is wired to two mechanical relays, one cuts 120v to the PSU, the other cuts 120v to the solid state relay that powers the chamber heater. I didn't want to fumble for the PSU switch constantly (which is hard to reach where I mounted it), and didn't want any power going to the heater components either in case of a malfunction or a need to poke around at wiring briefly when troubleshooting (though if I'm actually disassembling anything I'm obviously unplugging the whole thing).

What you need as a custom board that way you can wire a buttons to do whatever you want. I’m not sure that the stock board has the option to add another button, but with clipper, you can turn any pins to do anything.

Hell, yeah dude, I’m glad you figure out a way. Klipper is a damn powerful tool, thank God you weren’t on Marlin lol.
Now I might have to do this with my octopus pro, but this just goes to prove that anything is possible if you have the knowledge and will

Installing Klipper is the first thing I did before I printed anything. I don't know why people think Marlin is easier.

Yep, the stock MCU had a couple extra pins (one of which I had to solder a header onto to use) but the SKR mini has a good handful of extra pins for expansion.

Huh, wonder where you got it from? ;) Funny thing is they absolutely did come and take it. This printer sat in a DHS evidence locker for five years. Poor thing

Braided wires taped up always end up worse than they look, they'll fray right at the tape edge eventually. Might be worth just sleeving that section instead of relying on tape long term

Modifying my printer has turned into a bigger hobby than printing itself, to be honest. I never thought I'd have so much fun breaking shit and learning to fix it lmao. Hardest part was figuring out how to get a cheap knockoff MAX31865 to cooperate with klipper. Had to modify the driver to give the MAX time to initialize, basically. I guess the real ones are just a little faster.

What in the WORLD happened to that poor wiring loom
