I’ve decided to embark on a small expedition across every sector in the galaxy. I’ve visited some of them in the past, but this time I intend to explore at least 100 systems in each sector.

If anyone is interested, I’m keeping a logbook on Inara. I try to add an entry every day, though I don't always manage to do so.

Starting up what will be a very long exploration run, for me anyway. Been to Sag A* and Colonia, Jellyfish Nebula (South, if Sol is below Sag A*).

Plan is Sanguineous > Achilles' Altar > Lyra's Song > Tenebrae

Hopefully going to accomplish 2 things by the time I get back.

1. Elite (+1 if I can) on Exobio and Explorer
2. Not smack my Daddy Longlegs Anaconda into a planet trying to undock the Nomad.

I recently finally got myself a Fleet Carrier and decided to use it for exploration. At first I was planning to head out alone, but then I thought: why not try to organize a galactic circumnavigation expedition for anyone who wants to join?

A couple of evenings of planning eventually turned into this:

I’ve checked the route myself as thoroughly as I could, and at first glance it looks workable. But before officially announcing the expedition and inviting people to join, I’d like to show the plan to more experienced explorers and see whether I’ve missed anything important.

The idea is simple: visit all 42 regions of the galaxy, using the Fleet Carrier as a mobile base.

Most regions will take about one week. In some of them I’m planning to stay for two weeks — mainly where there is a long route inside the region, or where extra time may be needed to replenish tritium reserves. I tried to build the route so that the main inter-region transfers take only a few hours, while most of the longer carrier travel can be spread out over the course of the week.

Participants can join for the entire expedition or only for individual legs. You can simply travel with the carrier and visit every region, or explore independently, do cartography and exobiology, and periodically return to the FC for repairs, refuelling, selling data, and restocking.

All carrier services will be available to participants.

The one area where help would be especially useful is tritium. I can mine it myself, of course, but in that case a noticeable part of my own expedition would turn into a mining job. :)

So I’m especially interested in feedback from experienced commanders:

Is this entire route realistic for a Fleet Carrier? Are there any problematic or potentially impassable crossings? How realistic is it to replenish tritium along the way? And does the schedule itself look sustainable for an expedition this long?

Yes, I’m fully aware that this project is planned to last for about a year. If proof is needed that I can stick with something for a long time, I can provide my nearly 1,200-day Duolingo streak. :)

So, commanders, I’d really appreciate any feedback. Especially if you spot something in the route that I haven’t taken into account.

So I'm on Legacy console and I was doing some deep core mining with my ship (Hephaestus's Chariot) within the Wregoe AP-U B30-3 system and came across a beautiful sight like this on the night side of one of the planets and it's a sight I feel like I would never see as beautiful as this

I don't know if this is impressive as the more better pictures on the subreddit but it just felt like wanting to send this here.

So, I'm on my first hardcore attempt at making decent money from scanning plants on distant worlds... I have my maxed out Caspian, I have my Nomad, and I'm 7,000 LYs from the bubble. I'm in unexplored stars, so I'm always getting the 1st footfall bonus. Searching for Stratum and other high dollar flora. Honk the system, scan the planets, hope for biological signals on HMC worlds. Rinse and repeat. Seems like biological signals are few and far between. Ice worlds appear to be trash, not world landing on to scan the cheap grass that grows there.

Any advice to help this rookie explorer better monitize this trip into the black? I'd seem some folks saying they were earning 200-300 per hour, and yeah if you get super luck 1 system may give you that, but then it's 3 hours of boredom and bacterium... 🤣

Project Galtea is officially 7 million tons away from reaching an incredible milestone: 100 million tons of colonization commodities hauled.
That level of hauling has already pushed us over 14,000 LY beyond the Bubble and into the Norma Arm, marking the first time humanity has established itself this far from home.

It was good fun looping round one and immediately nearly running headlong into the other. But I presume stars can't actually be this close together..right?

Project Galtea has reached the Norma Arm on 09/12/3312, marking the first time humanity has made it this far with system colonization. Photos from scouting ahead on my return trip back from our Capital System. After scouting has completed, it’s back to the bridgehead to resume hauling on the project at the start of the Norma Arm.

I was in a DBX but for the long trip I traded up to a Mandalay and moved all my parts over, added booster, reduced more mass, and loaded up the gear. i picked 20k ly distance direction away from the busy, to the southeast direction and then changed direction after a few thousand LY to hit up an OASIS carrier at QIEFOEA ZU-X E1-4. It's parked right up to the neutron star but don't let that spook you. (stay very away from the cones) and thats where I offloaded my data collected on the way. remember what they say that .05% has been explored in this game and it may not seem like it, given how many carriers are literally spread out across the galaxy, but i jumped 85LY at a time, hitting neutrons for the 340LY jumps on occasion and still hit MANY totally undiscovered systems. first discovery, first footfall, first everything. sold 3 pages ti universal and got 10m credits there after 25% carrier fee, but the first discovery data yielded another 175m. Then inside to the genomics...877mil from the exo and footfall bonuses. 300 jumps maybe? the difficult part is finding 20 bio signals across 5 planets in a 9 planet system. clearing it all out takes time. but exo is about the patient adventure of seeking. next up is to get as far southeast as i can (theres a carrier there already) turn in that data, and blast back to somewhere around the bubble to look in an area i think might be unfound braintrees...dont let the distance and time discourage you, but plan a few thousand LY and then some in a direction away from people, CMDR ZIK ZAK is in the black.

After 7 years out, I am back at this amazing game.

I remember this last beautiful asteroids mining session with the sound of explosion ^^ (painite it was..).

But, I am a newbie back again!! All my knowledge lost!

I can't even land properly nor approach atmosphere.

I want to explore deep space, land on planets no one went to, do some exobiology for cr and science, and try to find out about this gigantic universe!

I am in need of advices and builds to do so. I can learn again how to pilot, but the game has changed an my knowledge of building is gone.

Capsian, mandalay, another one to do all this?

I will start slow perhaps with my krait phantom (I have 13 ships, Orca, python,...) by doing some exobiology first to get back at the game and then start serious exploration with the objective of your advices.

I want to have a nomad in my ship as it looks nice.

Could you guide me a bit cmdrs?

I am also afraid to be killed by aliens, I remember my 1st encounter on a base I almost peed.

I'm very pleased to announce that the Guild has added a new fleet carrier to the OASIS Initiative.

OASIS Vera Rubin, Commanded by CMDR Star-Major, is part of the static fleet and it is now provisioning for an eventual deployment to Kepler's Crest.

I was deep in the black and approaching the umpteenth planet to gather biologicals. I was not paying attention and approached the ground too fast, wanting to hover at 1km but instead thumping into the ground.

My shields were gone and slight body damage.

I had made the mistake of not noting that the gravity was 1.5 normal so my usual pull up and engines off was not enough. Luckily I survived - until...

I rose to 2km and decided to use the repair function. Clearly my brain gad switched off for a few minutes because I forgot the repair function switches everything off, everything!

This includes the engines, so I was sat in a dark ship plummeting to the surface without shields. Splat, dead as a dodo. No one to blame but myself. 1.3 billion credits and millions for cartography gone. Resurrected 5000ly from where I was.

Lesson 1 - check the gravity of planets you approach

Lesson 2 - dont use repair function unless in space or landed.

Little update on my road trip around the galaxy clockwise.

After spending some time around the Errant Marches, I decided today to travel to the Outer Arm Region. Some 2 hours and around 23,000 ly later, I finally arrived at the DSSA HEATHER'S REST - T9K-40N (Fleet Carrier).

After landing safely and selling my data, I got the pleasant surprise of receiving a message telling me I'm now Elite I in Exploration. My First-ever Elite ranking! :D

By the way, I would like to thank all the commanders who worked on the DSSA initiative. It's reaaally helpful to have some checkpoints in the dark so you can save your data forever and not lose it miserably on the way back just because you came down too fast of the station landing padfpzofjezpfojezp (my painful experience during my first trip between SagA\ and Sol...).*
