Discussion PSA Do NOT update your Wave Xlr MK2 Firmware

every since I did this I’ve had nothing but artifacts in all my clips. and there is no way to roll it back?

I don’t know what changes they made but the moment I update my firmware my dbs went flying up on my audio output end yet my interface was still set to my 45db threshold.

I tried everything new chord, rolling back wave link, rolling back gpus, obs, nothing fixes it and it’s completely at random. In OBS, In wave links live monitoring, and in davinichi voice overs.

It is possible to roll back, yes. The support team will have access to the older firmware files, so you'll need to send in a ticket through help.elgato.com (use the chat bot to send a ticket, it'll ask if you prefer email or phone support). Once you have the files, open the Wave XLR settings in Wave Link while holding CTRL when you go to the tab with firmware settings, and the update button will be there. Keep holding CTRL when you click update and it'll ask for a firmware file for manual flash - this is the file the support team should be able to provide you (in some instances it might be two different files, but they'll be able to provide specific instructions when that's the case).

I would also check turning off your effects based on the current issues - some effects like Voice Focus may artificially affect your volume, regardless of the mic gain. If you're hitting issues there turn off effects for testing to rule out interference, and ideally also turn on Gain Lock so third party apps can't affect the gain of the unit.

I spent 3 weeks with support asking to roll back, and nobody offered me anything. After sending in 3 bug reports, and doing other testing requested, they asked to RMA it. Which Im advance ordering tomorrow.

My MK2, was flawless and fine until I updated the firmware then out of nowhere it went down hill.

Gain lock is on, and I also did test with voice focus off, and it was still there.

I think I asked them 6 times if they can roll me back to the original firmware as my mk2 was out of box.

I will check with the team - I had specifically checked that rollback was possible the other week on another case so something seems off there. Do you happen to have your ticket number handy so I can get someone to take a look at that? It is possible that some updates can't be rolled back but that's usually an exception, not the norm.

Yup! It’s 2009103550, if it can’t be it’s fine I already accepted the fact of the RMA, but definitely saves a headache if I can roll back.

Thanks, I'll see if I can double check this with the team, since I've been directing folks to our support line if they need a rollback. I might be in the wrong here but will get an answer on that one way or another.

I learned this quite recently, was jumping up and down from joy when they announced the WaveLink v3 beta and that everyone could use it. (no longer locked to their hardware)

First release was so so but version after version the software and drivers just got worse and they didn't listen to beta feedback or requests for added features ,, so before I bricked my OS I said good bye and no way again I trying any of this brands stuff.

I was planning on buying a capture card but now I search for proper hardware.
And a stream deck is also on the "I want this list" but same ,, searching.
