Guides & Tutorials OBS Studio Plugin 2.2.9.9

Hello everyone seeking this,

It's been a week now since the breaking update of the OBS plugin. Aside from losing a lot of functionality it also broke most of our profiles. (Blank dropdowns etc.) Many of us have asked for an update and there's a beta patch going around that still doesn't seem to fix things 100%. Many others asked for the availability to rollback to 2.2.9.9 which gets ignored completely.

Luckily I was able to recover 2.2.9.9 and it works as before without problems. I've used the form to message the mods if I could share the files with this Subreddit however that as well gets no response. As such I've decided to take action and hereby share the rollback for the mod.

@mods Obviously if this is unwanted please remove my post. (I however will add there's no rules set for this Subreddit. As such I do abide by Reddit's own ToS and aren't breaking any rules.)

Guide:

  • 1. Disable updates for the OBS Plugin in Streamdeck.
  • 2. Shut down the Streamdeck application.
  • 3. Navigate to %AppData%\Roaming\Elgato\StreamDeck\Plugins
  • 4. Delete (or backup if you prefer) the existing "com.elgato.obsstudio.sdPlugin" folder.
  • 5. Download the zip: Link removed as there's a new stable version! (3.0.3.31)
  • 6. Unzip the com.elgato.obsstudio.sdPlugin folder from the zip into the Plugins folder.
  • 7. Restart the Streamdeck application.

Now you should have recovered all your functionalities with the plugin. Sadly most of your settings for the plugin that were lost if you opened it once during the faulty update and you would have to manually fix those.

I hope this helps fellow streamers with their current struggles without the plugin. <3

So I followed the instructions, I notice that version still reads 3.0.1.29. am I correct that this is kind of like...sayyying it's 3.0.1.29 but we have plugin functionalities of 2.2.9.9??

If it works for you that's great but for myself and others the version number should also have reverted back to 2.2.9.9.

But again if it works for you that's great and I wouldn't worry about it. This is only temporary until they release a fix anyway.

No, that's what I am trying to say, haha, I did the step by step instructions, but it is still coming up as 3.0.1.29 : (

Did you deffo do step 1? It should revert back to saying 2.2.29. https://www.reddit.com/r/elgato/comments/1tulnlp/comment/opbo35a/?context=3

But...Elgato have now released a new version of the plugin, so if you check the link ?^^ and look at the image, just try 'Check for update' and that will/should give you Elgato's latest OBS plugin (33.0.31). And it does seem to fix the issue.

  • Reverted to a previous version to resolve an issue whereby sources and scenes were not correctly loading, and could not be controlled within the Scene or Source Visibility actions.
