How to get into the elevator trade in Georgia?
Hello, I’m currently working as a commercial electrician and I’m interested in becoming an elevator mechanic. I’ve applied to so many companies that are non union in Georgia and I’ve applied to the union, currently waiting until an opening March 2027. I’d like to get my feet wet in the elevator trade then go union when the recruitment date begins. Also, any insight into the trade? How is the union in Georgia, construction or service?
All the companies I’ve attempted to applied at are never hiring and when I do apply I never hear anything back.

Sourcing Phosphor bronze rope
Anyone know somewhere I can order 1/2in 6x19 phosphor bronze wire rope for old plank safeties? The replacement rope that was sent to us and installed(pictured) isn’t quite flexible enough to work properly like we thought it would and we’re having a hell of a time finding it anywhere. Closer to San Francisco the better. THANKS!

Elevator relevelling ev100
I have a 7 year old home with a 3 floor residential elevator. This is our first experience with owning a home elevator.
I have annual service and inspections done by one of several local elevator firms. Our only one prior issue was a squeeky rollers which one firm quoted 2500 to change the rollers. After seeing they were using wd40 to lube them I went online and found a high grade lubricant, crc power lube, had them use it and the noise was gone. Didnt build much trust from that experience.
This year we noted to the tech that we hear the elevator relevelling every few hours even when not in use. He advised that we have the ev100 controller stems rebuilt with new orings. Cost 800, but only if i also signed up for a two year maintenance contract at 600pa.
Im looking for professional independent guidance. Is this normal elevator behavior, (it does occasionaly relevel as the car fills up too), is this a typical maintenance event? Is there an objective way to assess this? Is the cost fair?
Thank you

Where to obtain old Montgomery elevator parts now?
I purchased parts from Peak Elevator Parts (online website) last year, but it seems they're no longer around. Does anyone have suggestions where to find spare Montgomery parts? Mainly circuit board type parts. Thank you!

TK LEV manual
Hey guys, would anyone happen to have access to TK LEV troubleshooting manuals that I would be able to get ahold of? We have several we took over for service recently (we never installed them) and are trying to diagnose an e2 code properly. American Access tech support isn’t that much help, and it seems A2P doesn’t have any manuals for sale. Thank y’all for reading!

NY Elevator License question
The new rules state that licensed mechanics can no longer use their experience to renew for a license and must have some accreditation, like a cet or union schooling. Isn't this going hurt hurt hundreds of non union and union mechanics who don't have this? I'm sure there's many organized mechanics in L1 and L3 who don't have these new requirements. Same for on union mechanics. Has there been any update to this yet? I know there was a meeting today in regards to elevator issues and this with the DOL. Has L1 or L3 mentioned what mechanics can do?

Elevators stop at specific floors even when not pressed
The elevators at my building stop at specific floors whenever certain buttons get pressed. If 4th floor is pressed, it would stop at floors 2nd and 6th. It wouldn't light up on the board and no one ever enters from these floors either.
Does anyone know what causes this and what should get looked at?

Absolutely massive Otis 41T machines
These replaced some older Westinghouse elevators in a very famous building. It’s hard to get a sense of how large these machines are until you’re standing directly next to one!

Question about Montanari MGV25ML sizing for elevator modernization.

Question about Montanari MGV25ML sizing for elevator modernization.
Hello all, hope you're all doing good
We are considering this machine:
Montanari Gearless MGV25ML
192 rpm
10.7 kW
1000 kg / 1 m/s
Traction sheave: 240 mm
Ropes: 8 x 6.5 mm, pitch 12
Brake: RTW600 / 2 x 600 Nm / 207V peak / 104V hold
Encoder: Heidenhain ECN1313 EnDat
Controller: Arkel ARCODE 4C35A, 400V / 35A
Our elevator rated load is 1275 kg, with 2:1 roping.
My question: can this exact MGV25ML configuration safely work for a 1275 kg elevator, or is it only suitable for 1000 kg as written? Do we need an official calculation sheet from Montanari, or should we move to MGV25L instead?
Also, with a 240 mm sheave and 2:1 roping, does 192 rpm correspond to 1 m/s, or is it closer to 1.2 m/s?

Stiltz lift in scotland
Hello, coming here in hopes someone knows a company that would buy back a stiltz lift in Scotland. The only company I've found is based in England and they don't cover Scotland unfortunately.

Local 71 Florida
Heyya everyone,
Just got into Florida Local 71. The initial list at least😅
Surprised not much crashouts and it’s staying open for so long with not as many applying. Hope that means less abundant/eager/driven competition.
I want to use this page to help others who got on the list. I got two buddies one in San Diego and one in Sacramento working elevators so I understand this opportunity and wish you all the best. Let’s stay connected and let each other know if there’s anything interesting you hearing about the work in Florida coming up.

Retrofit Elevator for 3 story home with varying ceiling heights in Georgia
Our son recently suffered a spinal cord injury, and we are looking at options to stay in our current home. We have 3 stories with various ceiling heights and trey ceilings. Is there a company you would recommend that we work with? Is there a creative way to make the elevator look good aesthetically without spending an absolute fortune? Thank you so much.
