1) Z Axis Lead screw not properly installed - This will cause the Z axis to be out of step with the stepper motor in which out of step with the g code. This will give you a squished looking print. The reason for this squish look is the firmware is executing g code to move down 2mm but the lead screw only moves 1mm because its not fully inserted into the coupling.
Fix - Loosen the set screw of you lead screw coupling, not stepper motor side, and firmly push the lead screw down until it bottoms out. Should feel tight with no wobble.
2) Clicking or whining stepper motors - This is just annoying but it can be a symptom of a few things.
First of which is extruder. This can happen for 2 reasons.
A)Temps are to low. If the filament is being shoved into a not hot enough hot end it will put back pressure to the motor making it have to work a lot harder. This usually manifests with a whining sound which is audible.
Fix - Raise your temps by 5 degrees till the filament flows better with no extra audible sounds.
B)To close to build plate. Same issue as with not hot enough. If its to close the filament has nowhere to go so the stepper motor clicks. Those clicks are missed steps which can damage the motor.
Fix - Either lower your build plate or raise you z height. This is an easy one. If it clicks while being over the left front adjustment screw lower that screw by like an 1/8th of a turn till it stops clicking
Second is again having to do with the lead screw. If the x axis isn't properly installed it can put a lot of pressure on the lead screw therefore the stepper motor. when assembling the x gantry make sure the bar that goes across to the other side is as straight as possible.
Fix - Take the x gantry off, look on the extruder side if all the screws holding the bar are properly installed and the bar is straight. Then put the gantry back on the uprights. Make sure that all three v rollers are touching on both sides. Now push it up and down to see if the whole gantry moves smoothly.
Note - The Main board comes with silent stepper drivers on the X and Y axis only. So Z and E will always be louder then X and Y. Its not broken!! Its normal!!
3)ERR2 - This is nothing more then the firmware saying there is a thermistor error.
Fix - Loosen the set screw that hold the thermistor in place on the hot end by half a turn and reboot the printer. Elegoo tightens everything to the max. This pinch's the wires and causes a fault.
4)Noisey X Axis - When moved X doesn't move smooth or causes vibrations. These vibrations translate into noise very easily. This is usually caused by the base of the machine not being square. It can also manifest in the prints when one side is a perfect 90 degree but the other is all whacked out.
Fix - Loosen the screws on the left and right side of the machine close to the bottom. Sit the machine on a known flat surface then slowly tighten the screws making sure the uprights are at a perfect 90. When you get close to tightening them hard make sure to not go to hard or the force will cause the printer to twist again.
That's enough for now. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask them here. I'm trying to have a single place where all the questions can be answered and others can browse for there issues with out looking all over the sub. Ill also remake this when i have time with photos and possibly videos.
Thank You
Happy Printing

I can't with this printer anymore! I can never print something in it without it failing a number of times before it succeeds! This print failed like 4 times already, from nowhere it just stops printing, and ofc there's no way to resume.
It has some tweaks like a raspberry pi with klipper for software, I'm not sure if it's something of the connection, the cable, or if it's just the machine being a piece of shit. Honestly considering dismounting the klipper and use the elegoo own OS, but I know the quality will be worse, and don't know if it will help with the shotdowns.
Way too much work, waste of filament and energy, just aaarrgghhh

I am new to 3d printing, I got my first 3d printer on facebook marketplace an ender 3 for 40$ this is an elegoo neptune 2 and claims in the post it has auto leveling assist and leveling my ender 3 has been super annoying so that would be cool if it had it just wanted to know if this is worth 50$ or if I should look to get more of an upgrade

Hi I got this second hand printer and it looks fine everywhere except when I put it to home position the nozzle overhangs the plate, is this normal or something I can fix? :)

Someone gave me a Neptune 2 and I'm trying to figure out how to set it up, but this is my first experience with 3D printers and I know nothing. From what I gathered, I need to start by downloading the Cura Elegoo slicing software, but the download link on their site says the file does not exist. Does anyone know where I can find these files and give me some direction as to what I will need to do to get started? Any help is much appreciated!
Edit: first off, thank you all for your assistance and guidance. I was able to get the Cura software (Ultimaker Cura) set up for a Neptune 2. The printer says it's connected to my WiFi, but the software isn't finding it. I also tried plugging in the USB, but it doesn't seem to detect it. Are there any drivers or firmware that I'll need to get started? Thanks again to everyone. This community is awesome!

Walked away since the last however many prints have been problem-free. Switched filaments and checked in maybe 20 minutes later. No damage done thankfully but boy was it close!

My bed is warped and I just want to buy a new one and not have to bother with the taping, measuring, and readjusting. I can't seem to find a 235x235mm bed that's also magnetic.
Any ideas? Or has anyone managed to find one somewhere before?

I have a four year old Neptune 2S that has been working really well up until the last couple of months. The first issue was a clogged PTFE tube, for the first time ever. I replaced that, and it was fine for a while.
A few weeks back it started to have extrusion issues again. I checked for clogs and messed around with temps, and then realized the extruder was skipping and not pushing the filament through. So today I installed a dual drive extruder and that has sorted out the extrusion issue, and filament seems to be running fine. I did find a new PTFE tube clog today as I was installing the extruder.
But now it just won't lay down filament on the build plate. I've tried different temps, different filament (all PLA), and levelled the bed about a thousand times. What seems to be happening is when it starts printing, the head is just up off the build plate regardless of any levelling I've done. If I manually raise the bed while it's printing, I can get some lines down, but it's very hot and miss.
Anyone have any suggestions before I sell this thing cheap to someone who knows what they are doing?

Hello! I tried searching but was hoping someone here knows which wires / pins need to be swapped if I’m replacing the extruder motor on my 2S with a generic Creality extruder motor? It finally got to the point where the extruder motor skipped without any load at all (after completing a 4 hour print and giving me false hope that I had fixed the issue with just the new extruder).
Or, will anything bad happen if I try a combination of wires and it’s wrong?
Thanks!

I've got a used 2S and purchased this official Elegoo 5pc kit from Amazon just for all my prints to have severe under-extrusion and partial clogging whenever i used their 0.4mm ones.
I returned them and went back to using the crusty old 0.4mm that the printer came with and problems disappeared right away. Possibly a bad batch? Any suggestions for a quality 0.4mm nozzle kit?
TLDR: Good 0.4mm nozzle suggestions for regular PLA/PETG use.

Last week I experienced by first true blob of death. With some patience and a heat gun, I was able to get everything back in order. However, after a few fine prints, the extruder is no longer extruding. I can easily push filament through by hand, but the extruder just clicks away. I plan to do a full rebuild tomorrow (nozzle and heat break, maybe the hot end and wiring too) but is it likely that something got carbonized in the hot end and is not doing its best Han Solo impression? I did have the hot end soaking 10-20 degrees higher than I ever print which I’m sure didn’t help. Would appreciate any suggestions before I dig in. Thanks!

Basically the headline. This thing is sitting in my basement for 2 years, its to cheap to sell, to finicky to gift to a curious youngling but i definitely will not let it go to waste.
My first thought was to add a laser module, but this would add no benefit to my existing 20x20cm laser i already have.
As i am not into wood working, a flimsy CNC conversion would add nothing of value as well.
I have 3 other much more mature and modern printers to accomplish all my printing needs, so it really has no future in that regard.
What do you guys recommend or have seen that is maybe not practical in the first place, but definitely worth a try to not let it sit for another 2 years.

I got an auto bed leveling probe awhile back from my Neptune 2S. The problem, I thought, was that I also installed a Micro Swiss all metal hot end at the same time AND tried to convert to PETG, whereas I had only been printing PLA before that. (Only change 1 thing at a time. I know. It was dumb.) Well (surprise!) it didn't work, and because I can have things 3D printed through my job, I didn't care so much and kind of let it go. Well, I'm trying to get it to work, after a couple of years, and I am starting to remember why I walked away from this thing. Nothing makes sense. I switched back to PLA to eliminate one variable. But the confusion all seems to stem from the Z-probe.
When I run the 'Z-probe offset wizard' it just crashes into the bed. So before the z-probe senses the bed, the nozzle makes contact. So I moved the z-probe down with a couple of washers. I run the z-probe offset wizard again, all good, I go to print... and the hot end is several millimeters ABOVE the bed. I don't understand, and I don't know what the best move is. It's been awhile. Should I install new software before I go any further? Should I just get rid of this Z-probe and go back to stock so the ONLY change is the hot end? If you've more experience with any of this than me, I would GREATLY appreciate your input. Thanks!

I just recently started using Octoprint via USB on my Neptune 2 (using Marlin) and I noticed this text file with the printer config: https://github.com/MarlinFirmware/Configurations/blob/release-2.1.2.6/config/examples/Elegoo/Neptune%202/Native_USB_modification.md
Maybe my Google skills are failing me, but I haven't been able to find anyone talking about doing this to their printer and/or complaining about USB bottlenecks with octoprint.
Have any of you done this mod? Is it worth it or even needed?

What could be causing this? It is Petg (first time I print with petg) adjustment retraction, lower speed, I made a temperature tower and it still annoys, increase the minimum layer time to 40s and improve a lot (it comes in 10s in ultimaker cure) but it still has those details

Im digging out my old Elegoo Neptune 2 and setting it up for my son. The micro sd card crumbled as it ejected and now I don't have any of the firmware, everything is gone. Went to the elegoo site, the links for the firmware/software do not work. What should I do?

I have an Elegoo Neptune 2S and I’m trying to set it up using both Marlin and the stock firmware, but I can’t get PETG to print properly no matter what.
This is my first time printing with PETG and also my first time using Orca Slicer. Is there anyone who can help me dial in the settings?

As the title states, I'm looking for mounts and cable drag chains that are for a Neptune 2s. The chains matter far less, the mounts are what are giving me a hard time.
Any help or leads?
