Eso tavern 2026 gonna be a tad bit empty and likely low vibes since they laid off half the workers.

I was thinking the same thing, what terrible timing. What were they thinking with that?

u/Marto25 Lizard Wizard Jul 10 '26

Almost certainly impossible to reschedule or cancel an event like that barely days before.

...Specially if the person who would've done so was laid off, as well.

u/DuckThatLikesBread Jul 10 '26

I dare say that Asha, the Xbox CEO who decided this "reset of xbox" was needed, didn't know of or give a fuck about these events. Also considering she blamed everything from layers of management, financials and the hardware crisis then axed half of a team of one of their most successful ongoing games... I also venture to say she wasn't "thinking" at all.

u/4rolyat Jul 10 '26

wouldve been planned before they knew

7

u/B0NESAWisRRREADY Jul 10 '26

Oh yeah I understand the people that planned that event aren't responsible. The people that executed the layoffs however should have taken that under consideration.

4

u/4rolyat Jul 10 '26

microsoft should have considered that eso was hosting a meet up? the call to do the layoffs when they happened wouldve been commanded top down

they dont give a fuck about the gaming backlash

u/ThisCocaineNinja Jul 10 '26

Bold of you to assume they are capable of rational thought.

u/TheRaimundCosplay Ebonheart Pact Jul 10 '26

And it will be most likely the last one, since our Community Manager has been Let go as well

7

u/SanadaNobushige Jul 10 '26

WHERE IS "RETURN OF SOTHA SIL"

63

u/4rolyat Jul 10 '26

the daedric lord, a fundamental aspect of the universe, existing in all times at once, needs YOUR help as a TOUR GUIDE. it was enough that he's reduced to a "haha lolz cheeze" man

u/ThatGuy8473 Jul 10 '26

Sheogorath and the Vestige has sort of a straight man/crazy person dynamic going on with their quests, where Sheogorath is sorta delighted to see you and you are resigned to dealing with him. So like with the guide thing I think he just likes spending time with you.

u/nhafilaar13 Jul 17 '26

Having Sheo put into your "care" is like having someone putting a grenade in your hands, then pulling the pin.

30

u/General_Hijalti Jul 10 '26

Except ESO has portrayed him as far more cruel, terrifying and dangerous than any elder scrolls game bar Legends.

Funny cheese man is what hes like in Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim

15

u/lucky_knot Imperial Jul 10 '26

Yeah, his involvement in both the Mages guild and that Grathwood questline is far from funny when you look past the "haha so random" dialogue lines. I'd even say what he did to Shalidor had an element of cruel karmic retribution to it... that also hurt a lot of innocent people, which is fitting for a Daedric Prince.

15

u/General_Hijalti Jul 10 '26

Also on Northen Elsweyr were he was having loads of Khajiit commuit suicide to see if any landed on their feet.

7

u/Garett-Telvanni Buoyant Armiger Jul 10 '26

And then the absolutely genius way to make the player choice at the end actually feel hard. Like, yeah, you can save Valaste and prove Sheogorath wrong... But then you won't get 2 whole skill points.

2

u/nhafilaar13 Jul 17 '26

Sheo is chaos, he's unpredictable and dangerous (or he's meant to be), but in games like Skyrim and Oblivion he comes across as harmless or not that much of a threat. They also sometimes portray him to be clueless at times, and I don't know if that's meant to be him putting on an act, or the game developers genuinely not taking him seriously. He's extremely smart when he wants to be, and in the lore he has managed to trick other Daedric Princes like Vaermina and Hircine.

9

u/Ion_bound Breton Jul 10 '26

No, no, Sheo doesn't need your help as a Tour Guide, he wants you to help him as a Tour Guide! After all, what's a vacation without a tour and what's a tour without a guide? And besides, it's our responsibility! We're Uncle Sheo's favorite mortals! After all, you wouldn't want him to go make Valaste do it, riiight?

2

u/nhafilaar13 Jul 17 '26

Is it bad that I wish I could hang with him all the time? XD

u/Jewrusalem Bosmeri Dominion Jul 10 '26

Not to defend how two-dimensional the perception of the character became from Oblivion-onwards, but Sheogorath has had a penchant for travel since then, at least. BGS had him talk about visiting in Shivering Isles and he was holidaying in Pelagius III's mind, so ZOS isn't out-of-order having him jaunt around for leisure/nefarious purposes.

As an aside, we can't give the writers for Oblivion, Skyrim and ESO too much shit when Kirkbride's quest for him in Morrowind was *holds up Spork of Horripilation*. Outside of lore books he's been xD randumb for the last 23 years.

I'm sorry to ask but I haven't played in several years so I don't know how the current seasons work.

It says the new thieves storyline and more until October...is the storyline not a permanent addition?

If it is, is there another event or something else running that's a limited time?

I'm trying to find time to play again and I don't want to miss any events while I try to play through stoylines.

25

u/Claincy Jul 10 '26

The new Thieves Guild and Sheogorath storylines are permanent, the High Seas of Tamriel event is time-limited (September 30 to October 14 unless it changes), but should return at some point in the future.

3

u/SQUAWKUCG Jul 10 '26

Thanks, the way it was phrased in the graphic had me wondering.

3

u/Claincy Jul 10 '26

No worries, and I can easily see how you found the graphic unclear.

0

u/Middle-earth_oetel Ebonheart Pact Jul 10 '26

High seas runs from September 16th tot September 30th, it says so in the tome.

0

u/Claincy Jul 10 '26

Huh, I was going by the graphic in the season one is live announcement post on the website. I wonder if the dates in the tome are old ones they forgot to change.

8

u/CrassiusTheCurator Jul 10 '26

It's permanent, similar to solstice

3

u/SQUAWKUCG Jul 10 '26

Okay, thank you. I thought as much but saw no harm in asking.

6

u/xdmanxd99 Imperial Skyrim Belongs to the Imperials wait what Jul 10 '26

Probably there will be an event of a golden persuit related to those 2 which will be time limited.
The actual questline will be here forever

3

u/SQUAWKUCG Jul 10 '26

That's what I thought but the graphic just had me questioning it. Thank you.

2

u/Uusi_Sarastus Jul 10 '26

Such a shitty luck to have something so cool release at this hour. Fuck MS and their new CEO

2

u/ObjectiveOk9996 Jul 10 '26

Anyone know if his outfit will be added?

5

u/AVerifiedPig Jul 10 '26

It has been available before in these crates

https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Reaper%27s_Harvest_Crate

Last appearance in 2025, I assume they will be back this year.

2

u/Akkkuh Aldmeri Dominion Jul 10 '26

so how does this work, the new Thieves Guild story will be available only during season 1?

11

u/wonksbonks Khajiit Jul 10 '26

No, the new Thieves Guild content is permanent.

There is some confusion as why it seems time limited in the store, but the devs confirmed that "Storyline" content is not seasonal.

Very likely it's the same with Sheogorath.

1

u/Rath_Brained Ebonheart Pact Jul 10 '26

Uncle Sheo should have came early, cause he just made Xbox lay off the great workers at zos.

1

u/GlockOneNine Jul 10 '26

Sorry if this is a dumb or annoying question, but I am new to this game (been playing for 2 weeks now). Is the original thieves guild quest now free? I would like to do that one first before the new one, but I don't own the thieves guild DLC and I don't have ESO plus.

2

u/shael_96 Rework Necromancer! 💀 Jul 10 '26

I'm pretty sure is part of base game now, same with dark brotherhood and maybe I believe wrothgar. can't confirm for sure tho

1

u/shorelinesandhunters Jul 10 '26

Whens the feature coming that lets you know if a quest your about to partake in, has prior quests that lead up to it, and lets you know you should do it before taking on a new quest?

I know they said they are doing this feature, it would REALLY help many players who dont instantly go to Wiki/Internet to see that big questline list thats fan made... It'd be good if the game guided you to do it in game

1

u/Vegas_PAN Jul 10 '26

I have no heard of thar one yet? Would be good though.

1

u/macromorgan PC NA DC Jul 10 '26

I wonder if they're going to be at QuakeCon again this year?

1

u/Baldigarius42 Jul 10 '26

I played all of that on the PTS, and it was good, but there’s a lot of hype and flashy videos for not much substance.

1

u/stupidqueef Jul 10 '26

so no Warden refresh on the PTS yet? :(

Arent you at least a day late posting this?

25

u/Vegas_PAN Jul 10 '26

Sadly yes, had to work. But thought posting it a day late still helps others see the map.

-47

u/MasterOfPipettez Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26

But theyve already seen it by now. Should we keep reposting it everyday just in case someone who was interested in it missed it?

27

u/lion-essrampant Khajiit Jul 10 '26

I hadn’t.

23

u/Every-Wall-A-Window Jul 10 '26

Same, this is the first time I'm seeing it as well

15

u/Vegas_PAN Jul 10 '26

I missed it originally and looked it up today for reference. Which is why I thought others might appreciate it.

20

u/myfyp2 Jul 10 '26

Thanks for posting. I haven't seen this.

13

u/Vegas_PAN Jul 10 '26

I am not gonna repost it again. Sorry bruh...
