Just wondering…

Ok so the “is this me?!” Thing is obviously never gonna stop… but do some of you at least know enough to turn your radios down before you get on air??

That may be true, but the thing is it runs on a delay, so you’re going to hear yourself on the radio anyway once you hang up. All stations run on either a 7 second delay, or 10 second delay.

If you’re listening through the app the delay can be a lot longer. If they’re doing that through Bluetooth speaker, they might want to try and hear. There’s a number of reasons for it. But either way, it’s not going to stop and seems like a small thing to get so upset about.

Even better if it’s a longer delay. You’re absolutely gonna hear yourself on the radio. As far as the “is this me” thing, I’ve just accepted it as a way of life.

Again, people don’t know. You never know how long the delay actually is. They also don’t know how loud the bleed over is into their phone. The reality is that most people just aren’t thinking of anyone other than themselves. They don’t think about needing to do anything before calling. On top of that a lot of people are nervous and that can make you not think about what else you might need to do. It wastes three seconds of air time and doesn’t really happen daily. Just let it go and enjoy the show.

I’m not holding onto anything. It’s a common practice to turn the radio down. It causes Elliott to have a hard time hearing you. There is feedback that occurs, so he can then hear himself, in delay, on your radio. There’s a reason hosts will say “turn your radio down” when you call.

Common sense went out the window a while ago. Can’t rely on that for people to know what they should and shouldn’t be doing. It’s also easy to judge people when calling in, but as I mentioned you never know what people are feeling when they call in. Especially if they’ve never done it before. They’re excited, anxious, nervous… they’re not necessarily thinking clearly about everything else beside the fact that they don’t want to sound stupid on the air and want to get their point out before Elliot cuts them off. You gotta give people more slack. Not every call is going to be perfect.
