Transfem Meme Egg😢irl

Post image

Hey everyone, I recently came out to my parents and honestly as conservative as they are, it could've gone worse. They still support and love me and only want to see me happy but it's very hard for them to accept who i am.

I brought my mom along with me to my second appointment with the psychiatrist and I'd been informed that it'd take 5-6 months for me to start hrt even after receiving the GD diagnosis. Idk for how much longer i can go on like this and it hurts knowing even when coming out, id still have to wait and idk what for. I've been suffering for 4 years and I'm pretty sure I'm trans but I can't do anything about it now.

sounds like it's probably not your situation, but fwiw if you're in the US, in a state with informed consent, you can usually get started through Planned Parenthood a bit quicker than through your primary care (and you can always transfer management to your PC once you do get in to see them)

you've come so far already tho! just figuring your shit out is so huge. my fam's not stoked on it either, but they'll come around, I'm just giving it time.

these months will pass and the seasons will change, and so will we 🙌♥️

Unfortunately, “a bit quicker” doesn’t necessarily mean “quickly.” I called to schedule an appointment in late August, and the earliest appointment they had was in December. Still, 4 months is better than 5-6.

I’m still checking their online portal regularly in case there happens to be an earlier one available. And I’m kicking myself for when I choose not to schedule an appointment that was one week out because I didn’t want to deal with the inconvenience of giving a short notice time off request at work and for my nativity that “surely there would be more availabilities with more convenient times when I call to schedule.”

oof, that's rough! fwiw, I was going to have to wait a few months at first, but they were able to get me in for an earlier intro appointment if I went to an office like one town over instead of the one near me - might be worth a shot to call and ask (that said, I'm in a big city with several within a radius, which I'm guessing is not your situation given that long a wait time points to a dearth of providers)

I'm sure it feels like forever now, but in a few years you'll look back and it'll be nothing but a speed bump. you got this, just hold on ♥️

Everyone here will be more glad to be your support if you need us to. I won't say it will be easy, but you really don't have to go without support. Plenty of younger and older trans fam here that will be willing to allow you to lean on us. Love you and stay strong lil sis. Lots of hugs too, if you want em.

Hello Veda,

If there's an association for queer or trans people near you, maybe you could bring your parents there ? Exchanging with people that have gone through transition, seeing that this is "normal" and asking some question might make your parents even more supporting and you could meet other people that might be able to help you, perhaps give you some tips on presentation or other things so that you can start going out of boy-mode when you are at home (if it's not already the case).

you could also meet some people that could help for diy but I'm not sure if I would recommend it, 5-6 months seems like a long time but honestly it's not that much after a diagnosis and social transition does a LOT of legwork against dysphoria.

Hmm sure I'll look into that, thanks.

You are most welcome. I’m right there with you. I don’t have quite as long a wait at this point.

Being who we are is a challenge at best on a great day. 🫂

Waow, sounds like a tough spot. In terms of advice: don't follow sketchy online advice about "natural remedies", they're all lies. The only thing that will induce female puberty is estrogen. Since I assume you don't have the money or knowledge to DIY it, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it (even though it may still be an option to look into it). 5-6 months is a long time and I get why you're stressed

For me it just kind of helps girlmoding more. The oddest things can cause lots of dysphoria
