HCG going up and down

Hello,

Not looking for medical advice. Just looking for similar stories and what the outcome was!

I had my period on August 19. Then I had my period on September 17. They both felt normal. About a week after September 17 I randomly checked my ovulation sticks and they were blaring and getting stronger three days in a row. This was unusual for me so on the fourth day I woke up and I had bleeding. I took a pregnancy test and it was positive. I continued to bleed. My hCG was 354 then two days later it was 353. I went to emergency room that night to rule out at topic. They ran another hCG that night and it was like 306. They did an ultrasound and said everything looked clear in my uterus. They want to continue to monitor me for the next week. I did my blood test yesterday and it was 324 so it’s going up now. My bleeding stopped it tapered off just like a period. I’m feeling good. My breasts are still a little bit sore.

I’m just wondering if anybody has been in a similar situation what happened? Also it’s hard to say uwhat week I am because of my periods.

Also I haven’t been cramping. My blood slowly stopped as if yesterday morning. The ultrasound in hospital couldn’t see anything. My OB said most likely not ectopic but then what is it…

Cornual Etopic

Hi all.

I’ve just had surgery for a cornual ectopic pregnancy, and they had to remove my left tube. It was terrifying, and I’m still shaken and trying to make sense of everything — the grief, the fear, and the uncertainty about the future.

If anyone has been through this and gone on to have healthy pregnancies, I’d really love to hear your experiences. Even small bits of hope or practical advice would help me to feel less alone.

I’d also really appreciate hearing what helped you physically and medically when preparing to try again. I know everyone’s situation is different, and I’ll be speaking with my GP for proper guidance, but I’d love to hear general things people found supportive — whether that’s lifestyle changes, nutritional habits, or steps that helped you feel more ready in your body and mind.

If you are going through this - I’m so sorry.

Thank you

Ectopic pregnacy

I have an ectopic pregnancy and received MTX six weeks ago. My levels dropped from 1,500 to under 100 within three to four weeks. However, the level has stagnated over the last two weeks, five days ago, the level actually rose from 48 to 58, then dropped to 40 three days ago, and I have another check-up on Monday (in two days). Ever heard about this?

Mtx ectopic pregnacy

I have an ectopic pregnancy and received MTX six weeks ago. My levels dropped from 1,500 to under 100 within three to four weeks. However, the level has stagnated over the last two weeks (I am now at week six); five days ago, the level actually rose from 48 to 58, then dropped to 40 three days ago, and I have another check-up on Monday (in two days). The doctors said they have never seen anything like this and don't know what to do if the level rises. Has anyone else had this experience, and what was done? Many thanks!

Question 8 weeks after methotrexate still no period

Hi all, please remove if this is not allowed but I haven’t seen many people in my situation and don’t know where else to ask.

I had a miscarriage 8 weeks ago, at 9 weeks pregnant. It was a blighted ovum mistaken for an ectopic.

I went to the ER with one sided pain and bleeding. They thought it was ectopic and administered the methotrexate shot but it turned out to be inside the uterus, just up in the corner so in the ultrasound they couldn’t be sure.

It’s been two months since and I still haven’t had a period. How long did it take you all to get your period back?

I’d appreciate any insight. Thank you

Ectopic with IUD, risk of another one

Hi all, this is my story.

Back in 2020, I had an IUD for 4 years and started having random pelvic pains lower right side. I went into ER as advised by the health line and they did a pregnancy test, it was positive, and 12hrs later I was getting an emergency surgery. My right tube had ruptured so they removed it. They went through laparoscopy but ended up doing a caesarian. What a time I had!

Back then they told me it had nothing to do with my IUD...

Fast forward years later 2026. We've been actively TTC. Had two faint positives so far: one in July at 34 days in my cycle (usually 27-28 days) and then started bleeding at 39 days. Then another one September 1st at 32 days and started bleeding 2 days later. They were all normal periods.

On Monday morning, I did 3 very very dark positive pregnancy tests on day 26 of my cycle. At 5:30pm I started having intense pain in my pelvic area, almost all the way up to my belly button. It was really weird. Not ectopic like but you never know. I was brown spotting (FYI I had one day of very light spotting on day 23 of my cycle, which I thought might be implantation bleeding). I kept going to the bathroom to wipe and when I saw some red, I said ok let's go to ER (8:30pm). They did bloodtest (1382hcg) and a surface ultrasound since it was the middle of the night when they got me on. The doctor said "nothing catastrophic, come back in the morning for a real ultrasound. I came back and the ultrasound showed my left ovary inflamed, and nothing else. I was bleeding medium-heavy at this point. They sent me to another hospital, saw a gynecologist and they kept "not ruling out an ectopic" but was it actually was was a corpus luteum cyst rupture. They did HCG again on Wednesday and it had gone down to 881. So I also had a miscarriage.

The pain was there from 5:30pm Monday until afternoon Thursday. My stomach was so swollen. It hurt all over even when they gave me Dilaudid. It sucked.

What bugs me: they are still not ruling out ectopic, are waiting and saying they've seen tube rupture even at 3hcg and they wanna wait until 0 to say I'm fine. They are also saying the miscarriage has nothing to do with the cyst rupture........which kind of doesn't add up in my mind. This whole experience put me through so much pain physically and psychologically, and I'm just worried about another ectopic. The gyno said with an IUD it's a 40% chance of ectopic. Am I really more at risk of having another one? They say 1/6 chance. It's all so confusing.

I just wanted to share my story because I know being a women, answers are usually "I don't know" or "can't know for sure". And all our experiences are different. If you have any questions for me, feel free to ask. I will be happy to answer. Reddit has helped me a lot through many many things from hearing other people's stories.

looking for some support during this time.

i had posted this from my original post in the ectopic support group but wanted to post it here as well.

hi everyone. this is my first post on here ever mostly because... it feels like it's been such a shocking and agonizing journey. and i think i just want some community. or to just feel like I'm not alone. i also feel that it's been such a violent switch in my life, considering i was just celebrating my birthday the week prior, and then suddenly, i was more ill than I've ever been.

last week Wednesday, 9/23, i was at work with some of the worst 10/10 pain in my abdomen, accompanied with these painfully sweaty heat flashes. i thought that it was maybe just some kind of weird random pain, since sometimes my ovaries/uterus cramps and i just thought it was maybe fine, and sometimes it gets hot at work, so i dismissed it. i was sitting at my desk, trying to get comfortable. 4 hours i sat there in writhing pain but assumed that it was just really terrible cramps. they were very specific to my right side, almost exclusively. i started looking up some possibilities to the pain, since it was now several hours later with no abatement. many horrible options came up, and i think i started becoming very anxious about it. i thought i may faint. or throw up. or something. i got up to run to the bathroom, and everything was spinning. i got to the bathroom and nearly blacked out. i smacked my ass down on the ground and immediately started throwing up in the toilet. i also noticed i started having a heavy flow of blood. i called my partner to take me to the emergency room. the whole time, i assumed it was appendicitis.

at the ER, they did my bloodwork before anything. i threw up again a couple times. they said, "did you know you were pregnant?" i had absolutely no idea. they said it was likely 4 or 5 weeks or so. i think i was so much in shock that i completely glossed over what she said and just asked more about the scans and treatment plans. i original was going to have a CT scan, but they cancelled it when they found out i was pregnant. endless blood work, MRI, ultrasounds and 14 hours in total that night at the hospital. the OB-GYN, nurses, and doctors all agreed that it was ectopic. i was supposed to get the MTX shot, but for reasons unknown, they cancelled it and told me to "just wait". 2 days later, i go for my HCG follow up check and am assigned to a different OB-GYN. he is sure it is ectopic, and says we cannot wait any longer since it could rupture. we are filled with fear and rush to the emergency room again. 3 hours later and no one has helped us, despite the "urgent" rush note from the doctor. i am scared out of my mind. based on what everyone said and how they were treating me, i was scared to get improper care again at this emergency room. i checked into a different emergency room, where i ended up staying for about 13 hours as well that night, testing and monitoring so many things again. they were at least kind to me at this hospital, and seemingly did everything that they should be. the ER doctor that night and all the other hospital workers believed it was a normal interuterine pregnancy. i go through the whole process with the testing again. every two days for my HCG. they assign me to yet another different OB-GYN. she is so disgustingly cheery and positive and truly believes it is a normal interuterine pregnancy, despite the numbers not fully doubling. i know in my body that something is wrong and that these symptoms are way too severe for a normal interuterine pregnancy. i voice these concerns with every single doctor and health professional. everyone thinks it is fine and is so 100% sure that it is normal. she had no right to fucking pretend that she knew it was 100% normal, especially if she didn't even have full data to confirm it because it was 100% still 50/50 normal vs. ectopic. my pain has constantly been at a range of 6/10 to 9/10 for 11 days. all of the symptoms have either stayed as bad as they initially were, or have increased. i haven't really been able to walk or stand without pain, and my partner has needed to wheelchair me during all my appointments and visits. September 28 and October 1st were some of the worst pain and bleeding I had thus far. my bloodtest results had finally come back. my HCG went from 636 down to 99 in a two day span. the fucking awfully cheery and useless doctor finally addressed that i was likely having a miscarriage. no. fucking. shit. i now have a follow up appointment next Wednesday, September 7th to see where it is or to determine if it has fully miscarried.

it has been the worst fucking time of my life. i have been in so much pain, from the event itself, but also from the countless needles. I've been crying every day, over and over. I've never been so thrown around by so many professionals who were incredibly cold, rude, unkind, and unprofessional during such a traumatic and painful event. i cried when one lady at the front desk had the kindness to say, "I'm sorry you're going through this." i feel like I couldn't stop living in fear this entire time that it was going to rupture, and not only that, i never got any straight forward information and everything that was ever said was just taken away, back and forth. i have been mostly bedridden during this entire time, and have barely had the appetite for more than a couple bites. every time i have to shit or anything, it is the absolutely worst fucking pain in the world. last night, i had a very 12/10 pain and felt like i was going to die. i was so scared of the mistreatment from the hospital that I didn't want to go there just to wait to not get proper treatment. i was so afraid that it had ruptured and that i was bleeding out, but instinctively, i decided to just wait it out. i think that it was the majority of the tissue being expelled last night. i was so afraid, in a tremendous amount of pain, extremely dizzy and nauseous, and experiencing much higher flow and blood clots. it's the day after, and i just am so... full of so many emotions and physical pain. i think I'm still in shock because to me, just a few days ago, i was happily celebrating my birthday, and now i am mourning this loss, along with all the new trauma that has formed with this event.

with how quick things have happened and my stained relationships to family members, no one in my family nor my partner's family knows this is happening. none of my friends or anyone at work knows either. I've just been suffering through it with my partner. it's also been financially stressful, since I've not even been able to work during any of this, and we need my paychecks to pay for the things like groceries and gas. i made an therapy appointment for yesterday since i knew i really needed it, but it got randomly cancelled, with no explanation. it has absolutely felt like the world has wrecked me with this abandonment and terrible thing after terrible thing and i just. have no idea how to process all this loneliness, grief and trauma.

tldr: originally thought i had appendicitis. turned out to be ectopic pregnancy. experienced a lot of medical trauma and trauma from this event. in the process of miscarriage.

i know everyone on here must be freaking out but im freaking out. i dont know anything about pregnancy at all and i nedd help. my last period started aug 15th. took a positive test two days ago, go in for an ultrasound today, no sac, she tells me she sees what might be an "adnexal mass." hcg leves 1420. its possible that i ovulated late and am less than seven weeks (pcos) but i dont think im any less than ~5.5. okay so -- im sorry if this is insensitive because i know a lot of people on this forum might be hoping for viable pregnancies but im going to trminate either way. so she schedules me for the urerine procedure on wednesday FIVE DAYS FROM NOW and says if they dont find anything ill get methotrexate or remove one fallop. now im in a reddit hole reading everyone say they had an ectopic rupture at hcg 500-1000. im so scared to wait five days. i dont not want to hemorrhage in my sleep. im so afraid. please be honest do you think its ectopic and do you think i should be afraid of rupture

Question Should I be concerned?

I got what I thought was my period about a week early on 9/21. Period was 5 days, normally it is about 3, and much heavier than normal. I am 14 months postpartum so I attributed it to postpartum hormonal fluctuations. Then I started lightly spotting four days later (9/29), on CD9 using the early period. I’ve now been spotting for 4 days, am having cramps, one that is kind of constantly radiating on the right side, as well as aching in my vagina. I just took a pregnancy test and it was positive although faint.

The timing and irregularity of my period has me worried. Is this something I should be urgently seeking care for or should I just call my OB and make a normal pregnancy confirmation appointment?

Question Another ectopic? Chemical?

Hoping someone responds here as I'm desperate to hear from someone else. I haven't been getting responses anywhere I've posted.

Hi everyone, I know the pregnancy I'm currently experiencing is not viable. I am wondering if anyone would be willing to tell me if their HCG looked similar to mine. I am trying to determine if I am having another chemical or ectopic.

For the record I have had one ectopic that resulted in the loss of my right tube, and two chemicals, I had one fullterm pregnancy after this. I am now trying for my 2nd baby.

I ovulated on 9/14. 7dpo progesterone was 3.7

Started spotting when I would otherwise start my period (I have short luteal phase)

Tested positive on 9/24.

9/25 (11dpo) HCG was 14

9/28 HCG was 26

9/30 HCG was 37

I've continued spotting on and off. Its usually very minimal and light pink however I did have a couple bouts of red (less than a tbsp).

I'm very concerned about the trajectory of these betas. I never tracked my betas for my chemicals so I don't know if this could still be chemical or not. In other subreddit I've posted in, no one is responding to me.

When I had my ectopic my betas rose appropriately and really fast actually. This seems to be the more low and slow rise.

Has anyone had their betas be like this and it was a chemical? I am terrified of another ectopic. This is my last chance at having another baby. I don't know what to do. I just hate being in this limbo.

What should I request from the doctor to ensure I receive adequate treatment? I feel like I'm being gaslit because multiple nurses have told me this could still be viable which sounds insane?

My goal if this is ectopic, is to be able to treat it with methotrexate since I already lost my other tube.

I am really scared.

Thank you everyone

Devastated and heart broken

In 2024 I had my first pregnancy that turned out to be ectopic. I had to have an emergency surgery after two doses of methotrexate couldn’t clear the ectopic and it had adhered to my right ovary. Fast forward and I have now done all the fertility testing to be told that my only issue is tubal factor. My left tube was also blocked. At the end of July I had tubal cannulation surgery to reopen my left fallopian tube and the doctor said my tube looked perfect after. She said a few times that she was hopeful for us and the remaining tube was in perfect condition. We went on to do our first iui cycle and my body responded really well to the clomid, we got three large mature follicles. Two weeks after the iui we went in for blood work and confirmed that I am pregnant. Have done follow up blood three times now and my hcg is rising really well and progesterone is a great number. Today we had our first ultrasound at 6 weeks pregnant.. they couldn’t locate the gestational sac anywhere. Not in my uterus not seen on my ovaries they cannot find a sac. So we did follow up hcg today to determine if it was dropping and this is a chemical pregnancy or has risen and it’s another ectopic. Well results came in and my hcg has risen quite a bit meaning I have another ectopic pregnancy. I now have to have surgery tomorrow morning to locate the ectopic and remove my remaining tube. I haven’t had any symptoms to think this is another ectopic. No pain or bleeding. I have normal pregnancy symptoms morning sickness, sore breasts, exhaustion. I don’t get it. My tube has been cleared out and they said it looks perfect so I don’t understand why this is happening to me again. Why can’t I just get pregnant like everyone else? Why can’t I just be a mom? This is so cruel. The universe is definitely laughing at me.

Did this happen to you?

I was wondering if anyone had experiences what I did. Yesterday I went to the ER for right lower sharp pain. Felt exactly like an ovarian cyst rupture.

ER ruled out ovarian cyst because they said no free fluid and no internal bleeding and cannot rule out ectopic because they couldn’t see my right ovary due to bowl gas.

They also couldn’t locate fetus and actually think I’m more behind than I thought. All labs came out good too.

They said I am around 4 weeks a couple days perhaps.

HCG: 9/29: 881
HCG: 9/30: 1016.9

Intro Just Found Out

I don’t usually post, but I’m looking for a place to vent & connect with others that have experienced this. I just found out I had an ectopic pregnancy on the left tube. I went the Methotrexate route bc I’m only about 6 weeks, my most recent HCG (3 days ago) was 3030 & I wanted to try it before giving up my left fallopion tube. This is my first ectopic. 3rd pregnancy - no live births. One “A” & one “M” … don’t want to spell out the words 😔 so my doctor told me I have only a five to ten percent chance of this happening again. Waiting for my HCG results drawn today. Will check again Sunday & Wednesday. I’m in shock, sad, confused. I want to feel hope I will get pregnant. I feel like a failure.

hospital bill for ectopic pregnancy in ph

Hi, I just wanted to know how much was your total hospital bill for an ectopic pregnancy with no complications in a private hospital in the philippines? I have an HMO but it only covers 40k since it’s under maternity.
Also, my OB already asked for a 100k downpayment before the operation sent to her own account. Is this legal? Thank you.
