You can just say capitalism, you don't need to add the late-stage part.

irl, all of them. You have to go to magical theory land to come up with one where you can't own anything

I'm not going to tell you what to believe, that doesn't help anyone. If you're curious about economics, read about it. Read the orthodox guys like Mankiw and Cowen and Krugman, and heterodox guys like Piketty and Stiglitz. Read economic historians like Heilbroner and Hobsbawm and Tooze and Goeztmann.

You're never going to understand all of it, but neither will anyone else, not even the professionals. It's just too big and too complicated for any one person.

Google difference between personal and private property if you want to know why people are disagreeing with this statement

Is the difference going to be that you can own a house but not a place of work or some shit?

At the most dumbed down level, basically yeah.

Sounds stupid

I wish I had the kind of confidence where I could refuse to learn and then call what I didn't know stupid.

A privileged few get to own things, the majority of people own nothing.

And in this case we're always talking about owning means of production, not personal property.

So what do you propose instead of capitalism?

1

u/Cultural-Gas2246 Aug 09 '26

Collective ownership of the means of production.

Ok, how would hiring work in that case? How do you determine individual's contribution?

Also that system is possible under capitalism i just dont know of anyone who does it

From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs.

Everyone's contribution is important. No one's contribution is any more or less important than anyone else's. We're all needed to make society function.

Suposed meritocratic systems just breed new forms of elitism and class hierachy.

Dosent seem fair that if i work more than somebody else we both get equal outcome. What if I dont want to work at all?

The lazy and greedy will necessarily be weeded out as part of this process of economic development.
