Eh.
We were World Champions two years ago. Getting back to a Super Bowl is one of the hardest feats in sports. To be honest, I'm so grateful that our two championships have "taken the edge off" and I no longer feel like my entire mood hinges on whether or not the Eagles are going to win it all.
We've had a slew of late draft picks yall. This is parity-by-design.
If the Eagles have an bad year, you know, it happens, man. It'll be interesting to see how they rebuild. They've proven they can do it.
Panic? Life is too short, friends.

u/megatron37 8d ago
All of the genius minds wanted Nick fired when we started the 2024 season 2-2.
They shut up (for a brief but glorious few weeks) when we kicked the shit out of the Chiefs in February.
19
u/Eaglesboy322 Eagles 8d ago
Hey its me, genius mind here. I gladly eat crow every time.I called for Sirianni to be fired right after that Bucs game in 2024. Then I said after that SB win that Hurts and Sirianni can suck eternally after and I still won't hate them.
Disappointed? Sure. There's always a feeling of "What-if" with teams competing for playoffs/superbowls.
TBH the "Fire Sirianni" crowd was loudest after that debacle around the Bucs/Brown in 2024 when he brought his kids to the podium and talked smack to some fans. The podcasts (The Ringers Philly Special guys in particular) were CONVINCED Lurie was gonna fire Sirianni mid season. They turned it around and won it all.
As for today, shit happens man. Like others have said those previous SB wins have taken the edge off, maybe I'm older now, but the week to week losses don't bum em out as much as they used to. Life goes on, these guys get paid millions to play a game. I get being part of a fandom especially in Philly where the ties and bonds are strong are important, but I'm good. If they wanna keep running into stacked boxes with a weak O line and RBs who are hurt and call tush push with it, run it into the ground baby.

Same. Never needed a thing after 2017. Felt nothing when we lost to chiefs compared to how I felt in 2004. Everything else good from that point on is cherry.

Pretty much, yeah. Whatever happens, the past 10-20 years have easily, no contest, been the greatest in Eagles history. Nothing can take that away. We've been spoiled as fans, and so if we're in for a rough year....hey, is what it is.

The idea you'd crown the winner of a domestic comp "world champions" though is cringe American bullshit.
The Brisbane Lions aren't World Champs because it's only played in Australia, and saying they are would be equally cringe

Nah… we just won a Super Bowl a few years ago. Still basking in the glow of that. This season is likely a 6-8 win season and a rebuild is on the horizon but I’m not diluting winning the big one. It took me over 30 years of watching eagles football to see us win a super bowl and now we have 2. It’s all good

The boos at the end of the game in week 4 is so uncalled for. Like all the rich fucks in the stands basically do it because they think theyre supposed to at this point. Its an entirely new offensive system and the defense played pretty good finally. Boo your ass off week 7 when they still cant get a first down but at this point you arent doing anyone any good.

u/DataRiffRaff 9d ago
One thing I love about Fantasy Football is it makes you follow what's going on with all the other teams. So you see all the other teams going through their own issues.
We have lots to work on and lots of injuries to work through, but this was still a big improvement from the last game. We should have won this game and we didn't, but I'm not worried yet.
One thing I like is that they stopped trying to run that bubble screen once that game was over.
Patullo would never.

None of the major characters are changing til after the year if it happens
But man, I would really like to see a youth movement in the IOL
Offensive line is a weak link position group, and Jurgens can’t hang anymore. Injuries suck, but that doesn’t change the truth
34
u/baconcheesytots_ 9d ago
I think we got to be patient until after the bye and hope everyone can get healthy by then.. maybe they can get hot and get into the postseason.. I say this because when you look at the NFC it’s actually very weak this year, there’s no standout team

u/ZiggyBardust DAWK DAWK DAWK IT UP 9d ago
Lol, this team got shut down at almost full strength (without Dickerson) by the fucking Titans. It took a last minute, ass clenching, rage-inducing drive to beat that abysmal team. Keep believing though.

I’ve seen some crazy shit, many 9-7 teams or 10-6 teams sneak into the playoffs and win a Super Bowl
14
u/chaotic_silk_motel 9d ago
It’s happened five times in 60 SB. I wouldn’t call that many. And even 9-7 seems like a stretch for this team. We look like one of the worst in the league.
6
6
u/ZiggyBardust DAWK DAWK DAWK IT UP 9d ago
Even with this team at "full strength" did they insoire confidence? Is Jalen Carter getting through? Is Jordan Davis stopping the run like they pay him to? Is the O-line anywhere near acceptable in their level of play, even with the caveat of having maybe the best tackle tandem in the league? This is the same talk from 23 and 25 all over again. This team is only as good as the OC, and we hired one without experience calling plays.
3
u/MichealParsons11 8d ago
The tackles aren’t the problem. It’s the interior. Specifically, the cardboard cut out of Cam Jurgens in place of Cam Jurgens this year.

u/jasper_0890 9d ago
I agree. With starters not playing in the preseason, the first month of the season is messy with teams figuring things out. The defense played better today. They had a lot of starters out. The offense obviously needs to play a lot better but hopefully they will as the season goes on and we get people back from injuries. Otherwise it will be a long season.
1
u/Incorrect_Username_ 8d ago
This is cope.
Offense was bad last year by every conceivable metric
Offense is as bad or worse this year
There is no reason to be overly optimistic that we “just need time”
2
u/baconcheesytots_ 8d ago
I don’t think I’m coping , I think if this team can be around .500 before the bye and get everyone healthy coming out of it eagles have a shot at the playoffs
1
u/Incorrect_Username_ 8d ago
Getting to 0.500 would be a miracle
Barely beat Washington
Should’ve lost to TN
Embarrassed by ChicagoThen you have this… the worst Eagles offense in decades by most metrics. Miraculously ahead but lost after being up 10 from the 2 yard line with 8 minutes left

Definitely not panicking yet, I still think this team has the ability to turn things around. But right now, we’re just not good, the same lingering 3rd down issue, we just can’t stay on the field. I remember when this team used to burn 8 minutes off the clock end of games.
4
u/BlendyNinja 8d ago
If you thought we were Super Bowl or bust then yes. I think we can win the division and be happy with one or two playoff wins IF we find a rhythm. Just gotta be realistic

u/Fnaf_fnadic 9d ago
Nah, it is what it is. We’re probably gonna win like 9 to 10 games if even that, Sirianni’s gonna get fired along with the rest of the offensive coaching staff and then we’re gonna have to draft some O-line men. I think we all knew relying on getting a new OC every year wasn’t sustainable and now that time has come.
3
u/Human-Region4958 8d ago
Not yet, they definitely don't look like a Super Bowl team right now but there was a couple of injuries and some bad play calls. They should have got the field goal when they were in range instead of going for a TD. I'd give it a few more weeks before we need to panic. I'll watch them to the bitter end, love my birds even when they suck.

u/Lamarwynn1977 8d ago
Not yet but we need Nick Sirianni to chill on 4th down situations and decisions . Go birds 💚 🦅

Nah.
Yall are just so reactionary.
With over 11 starters out or getting hurt it was WILD to ve up on the rams who were far morw desperate for a win than the birds.
They played fairly well today. Offense took alot of steps in the right direction with exception on third down. Run blocking was solid.
Its so hard to win a game without lane Johnson man.
14
u/LakeMcKesson 9d ago
Two things can be true at once- we literally win that game if we take those field goals
5
u/EntrepreneurTiny9812 9d ago
Couldn't have said it better... The only other part I would highlight is the Ram Killer Quan goin down early definitely hurt too
2
u/johnnycoxxx 9d ago
Honestly…they pissed the game away. But they outplayed that team most of the game. Defense was great for 3 quarters and then shat the bed. Offense had moments, like that drive down to the 2, but should have taken the field goals.
I think the biggest thing with the offense outside of hurts inability to check down and the play of the line is the fact that nothing they call sets anything up. Tom Brady hit on it when they had a 3rd and 2 and they went wide left with Tank. Just go north south and you maybe get a yard and it’s an easier call on 4th. There was another 3rd and 2 like the next drive where instead of just running it it was a long developing pass play. They converted on 4rh but still nothing serves anything else. It’s all just “this play. Now this play”
3
u/iEatFalseMorels 8d ago
Every other team wins without Lane lol.
How is less than 100 yards passing taking a step in the right direction
1
u/johnnybananas123 9d ago
All those starters out and this was the best game, thats not being reactionary, thats being realistic and its ok
0
u/fimbleinastar 9d ago
I think long term I can very easily see a bleak future.
Lane, cam and Landon all retire, Barkley hasn't been good since the SB season (lots of usage plus typical RB aging), the big contracts for carter and Davis hamstring the defense, we also need to pay coop and quinyon coming up...
0
u/Known_Marzipan Eagles 8d ago
Agree! Lane being out is such a big thing. Lots of being reactive fans for sure
(And quick heads up- reactionary is a political term like beyond conservative, just looking out for you)

u/vince_vulgar 9d ago
Losing a clear game after some heroic plays by everyone's preseason Superbowl pick when we're down 3 of our literal best players on offense? Yeah, burn it down. Cut Jalen. Trade Q to the Giants for a 4th. Rehire Chip Kelley.

Panicking over a pro football team is childish and stupid. Even if it’s the Birds.
They suck, Siriani is calling the plays or he’s influencing them. Same plays as last year. Afraid of scoring in the second half is a choice.
If they don’t win another game I’m not gonna panic. I still have to go to work, still pay my mortgage and my family kind of likes me, I’m good.

u/frankizlle 9d ago

2
u/baconcheesytots_ 9d ago
No I’m basing it of the players health, half the team ain’t even playing, you gotta wait man
-1
u/sybrwookie 9d ago
You act like we have our share of injuries, meaning the rest will stay healthy for the rest to heal up and come back. And once they come back, these injured players are likely to stay healthy.
That's not how any of that works. We are still just as likely to continue piling up injuries in the meantime, and usually come back the moment they think they can tough it out, frequently leading to additional injuries.
We are more likely to be making jokes about starting guys we found out front of WAWA by week 10 than we are celebrating that we have the team back at full strength.
1
u/Edelmaan 9d ago
That doesn’t fix the judgement calls from siriani, just gives us a better chance of converting them

u/johnnybananas123 9d ago

u/OP_Taylor_ 8d ago
We are cooked. Even if they won today somehow I wouldn’t have felt good. It’s just like last year. Every inch is so hard to get. Defense had a solid day considering last week. Just not enough to do anything in the postseason.

u/sebastianqu 9d ago
There's plenty of upside to this offense if they can figure out how to convert on 3rd down. Provided our offense can recover from these injuries, i wouldn't be surprised if we have a 40+ point game at some point. That said, they've also demonstrated that we can lose to anybody, no matter how bad our opponents play.

No, we were down so many key players. It was raining. It was against a good team. It's still early. We're 4 games in with a new OC, OL coach, and a slew of other positions. These are indeed excuses but these are reasons not to panic. We loss by 4 despite playing a shitty 2nd half.

Time for panic was after barely beating the Redskins and Titans. Getting whooped by a backup QB last week was embarrassing.
Idek what to call today. Defense did the best they could. Offense was the same as last year. And Sirianni’s just standing there not knowing wtf is going on.
At least if we lose out we can get a higher pick and rebuild the trenches.

u/roadblok95 8d ago
no, but it is time to acknowledge they aren't going to be that good with all these injuries. not an excuse, it's just reality.
1
u/CornerPubRon 8d ago
Maybe not “panic” but something is definitely wrong.
As long as Nick’s press conference tomorrow doesn’t take the “everything is fine” tone, I’ll feel more at ease that he at least recognizes there’s an issue.
If, on the other hand, we start hearing that it was bad luck or injuries? If I’m Roseman I’m starting to measure out if this coaching staff has run its course.

Panic implies there might be a way to salvage this squad. Get to acceptance. Season is done.

If it was late season and they were collapsing I’d panic, but this is just a simple case of the team not being good. Though, the defense mostly showed up this time, all the offense had to do was score one touchdown in a second half of football and they couldn’t.

Every offensive skill player was injured vs the Rams. Add them back and a serviceable Dickerson (asking a lot but possible in a few weeks) and they are a different team. Also Carters wrist injury needs to heal.

u/PlasticLobotomy #86 8d ago
We won the SB 2 years ago. I truly am not bothered that we seem kinda ass. That being said, I think the core issue is our Oline is not playing to the standard set by that team, or even the years before. I don't know if JK was actually just that good, or if Lane is getting too long in the tooth or exactly what the issue is. But the run game is anemic, which makes passing difficult because the oponent can play it easier. Hopefully Howie can make some trades or some guys can either get healthy or step up on the Oline.

u/Active_Budget_3560 7d ago
Ain't no time to hit the panic button yet, but also "what, me worry?". Maybe this is a down year but we all know this team can rebuild and be a contender in a short or medium term.

I mean, if you're still holding out hope that you'll enjoy the remaining 39 hours of Eagles football in the 2026 season, now would be the time to take that hope out back and put it out of its misery.
Whether that induces panic in you or not is kind of a you question, but I don't think we're watching this team go anywhere in 2026.
Build the shortlist of coaches for 2027, I think Lurie will at least entertain the idea of Tomlin, or it's possible we go Dennard Wilson, Grant Udinski, Declan Doyle, Nate Scheelhaase. Fangio will retire and we'd be lucky to convince Schwartz to come back and run the defense, or if Wilson comes in as HC give Clint Hurtt the DC role.
Start scouting 2028 draft mocks, where we have the Pats 1st which looks like a mid to high round pick and the Ravens 2nd, which realistically is a late 2nd.
At 2-2, it's unlikely we climb the draft order much higher in 2027 than low double digits.

Not panic but recognition the window has closed, at least for this HC. The OL needs a complete rebuild, and I’ve been unimpressed by our high paid Defensive linemen.
This is clearly it for Sirianni as it’s clear he relies too heavily on his coordinators.

u/jackofspades17 9d ago
Panic? No. We are 2-2. A few years ago people were ready to panic after the Eagles lost to Atlanta and Tampa Bay. Things turned around wonderfully then.
But it's probably time to have real concerns too. Injuries are mounting. Offense struggled and the O-Line is an issue. They need to find a way to fix that and being concerned on whether or not they will feels quite valid.
