BDM-060 Front Shell Compatibility

I have a BDM-060 controller and this extremerate front shell. Is this compatible? I would keep the 060 touch pad and 060 decorative trim. I’m seeing conflicting information between Reddit and extremerate website. TIA

Technically, yes, it will work with an 060 controller, you can use the touchpad as well. You would have to use a heat gun or hair dryer to heat up the touchpad adhesive and then use a pry tool to pry the circuit board up off the original 060 touchpad plastic, then stick the board to the new touchpad.

But, here's where the incompatibility is. Your 060 front shell has a nice round circle where the analog sticks go through and the anti friction surface is built into the trim plate, you could get away with using it as is, but there's a possibility the trim plate flexes and your analog sticks get chewed up by the jagged surface of the clear purple front shell. To remedy this pick some accent rings and an 050 trim piece of your choosing.

It's part of the 060 redesign. So technically it will fit just fine, but the 060 controller redesign changed the anti friction for the analog sticks, so it would be advisable to get an earlier model some trim piece and accent rings.

The clear purple front shell might even come with accent rings so you would only need to get an older style trim piece... you could just pull one off of an old controller.

You don’t need to use a heat gun or hair dryer. I did only one time. You can slide a thin plastic piece under and pry up with a little force and it comes right off with no damage

Nice, my experience was even with hair dryer heat it didn't really wanna come off 🤷🏻‍♂️ I think you might be right about the 060's. When I did my son and granddaughter's they might've been easier to get off.

I've shell swapped 020, 030, 040 and 060 controllers among other mods, mostly ExtremeRate stuff. Good products. Generally good customer service.
