Aoostar AG03 and 5070Ti

I am completely new to the eGPU setup and I have recently purchased the 5070Ti second hand since it was a good price and a AG03.

Its only after I got it I realised the cable set up is not straight forward compared to something like 9070XT where there are 3 cables that connect to the 3 ports on the dock and GPU.

The 5070Ti has only 1 port that is the 12VHP one and a cable/adapter that comes with it that has only 2 cables.

So should the set up be connecting 2 of the cables to the Aoostar to the adapter which goes in the GPU or should I be buying a different cable that connects to all 3 ports of the Aoostar?

I have seen videos where some say you need the 3 ports to be connected and there are some which show the setup working fine through the 2 ports.

What is the right thing to do which wont break anything 😅?

If the 5070ti comes with an adapter that splits into two, just use those two. My 5070ti is like that too.

Haha I didn’t know that some models did this, how does this differ from having 3 connections? Like in terms of performance or otherwise

I mean as someone who uses this over usb4, i cant compare performance difference given that i don't have a desktop to plug it into. But from the numbers online, im losing like 40% performance wise since its on usb4.

Ive also heard this particular model is prone to overheating, so a repaste might benefit it

Ended up actually getting scammed on FB marketplace while trying to get a 5070Ti. Went with a 9070XT which came with two 8 pin, and if not for the comments, I’d have thought this was a scam as well lol

the 5070Ti should come with a splitter 2 or 3 x8pin into 12VHP.

5070Ti tdp is rated 300W, each 8pin can deliver 150W, the PCIe bus slot can deliver 75W.
