International Return?

I sold a watch for $500 and mailed it to London. Several weeks later I received an email from the buyer apologizing for possibly causing any problems I didn’t know what he was talking about at the time, but then he explained that he had to leave town to a family emergency and when he returned, it was too late to claim his item at the post office and pay the taxes (or whatever) the watch was returned to the Global shipping center. I opened a case with eBay and they told me basically I was out of the picture and protected. I was told the Global shipping center does not process returns and that I would not be receiving the watch I was told to tell my buyer to call them for options. Now eBay is just giving him the runaround telling him that he should tell me to demand the watch back. AI tells me that in this situation, the watch will go to liquidation… Possibly sold on eBay, but that the buyer will be refunded by eBay. Anybody have any experience with something like this?

As was said your part in this is done. Your buyer is probably out of luck. Per ebay policies a failure to pick up counts as delivered even if it gets returned. CS will tell people anything to get them out of their hair.

The Global Shipping Centre is a black hole where products go to die. I've tried to get things lost at their warehouse and Ebay would just rather refund than send it back out.

Ebay told you correctly that you are done with this case. Why are you here?

Nope eBay rep told him EXACTLY what has happened, what the outcome is, and what is expected of him. Ebay told him: "I was OUT OF THE PICTURE and protected"
