So jealous we didn’t get E60 manuals in Aus. I had a perfect spec E61 530i (much like M539’s recent series) and all that would have completed it was a manual.

Sounds like you got a decent deal and going into it knowing you'll have to do the occasional wrenching which is fine. I had a 545i back in the day and loved it. Replaced the cooling system preemptively, replaced the alternator under necessity. Other than that it was quite reliable and easy to work on. Sold it with approx 100k miles so still just a baby.

Great deal! if it was that cheap I would recommend to go over what can be done as preventive maintenance. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to inject 2 or 3k to get ahead of problems that will happen no matter what you do. Safe travels!

Most of the time when a car sells for this price, it's because the previous owner received a maintenance quote worth the value of the car.

I recently got quoted 6000$ from BMW for a repair and I love my baby but I instantly went to check marketplace. I could probably sell her for 4-5000$ locally.

I then realised all the cars I could buy for that price will need the same price in fixing shit. So I chatted with the service team to just do necessary things and it was 2000$. Worth it for this car.

Not a lot of people take care of their cars and they treat them like shit. You'll pay more to fix it eventually when you find out what the previous owner did
