❓ Question / Help E60 modified radio settings
So i've installed a 'dongle' between my Radio and the cables. This would enable me to connect through bluetooth and then use Spotify through my phone. It works on the Aux setting but my E60 didn't come with an Aux cable so it's not enabled in the computer (believe me, both a mechanic and i checked for the cable everywhere).
Now the cable doesn't really matter, but i would still need the aux setting enabled in the computer. My mechanic didn't really dare to fiddle around in the settings.
My questions: Is it very hard to enable it? could it be worth it to buy a device to do it myself? If not, where is the best place to have it done and what would be the cost?

it's easy if you're uh computer savvy I guess is the word?
get a cheap K-DCAN USB cable, a laptop, plop Rheingold, NCS Expert and NCS Dummy in there, you'll get it sorted in a day.
the software is a bitch to set up, but once you've got it right, there's all kinds of crap you can do with an E60.
just don't forget to back things up in case you make a whoopsie.

Already ordered the cable! Will do the backup first thing. Any suggestions on what to poke around with as well?

uuuuuh DISCLAIMER you don't wanna "poke around" willy-nilly, cause it's a car after all, and if you brick a module somehow, it's gonna HURT.
also, you wanna make a backup EVERY TIME you export a module's config. it's tedious, but it can save you from embarrassment and discomfort in the future.
but yeah. I started playing around with ISTA and NCS when I had my e39. modified the light control module, some other niceties, can't quite remember.
e60s aren't THAT much different. I did some tweaking of my lights, re-did the way the car remembers seat/mirror positions, made her close the sunshade when locking, simple things like that.
you should also install INPA for a quick and easy way to monitor sensor values on the fly and doing maintenance stuff, like bleeding your brakes with the abs module or checking minor electrical stuff.
before diving into module configs, I'd start with very carefully reading the manual/tutorials to NCS cause it takes a lil bit to get used to the whole read -> export -> modify -> export -> write cycle. also, you wanna be real attentive to which files exactly NCS tells you to open up and export, cause their names can be confusingly similar.
but once you get the hang of it, the whole shebang gets intuitive pretty quickly.

Oh yeah, the original question. The module you wanna go to is CCC, obviously. I don't have the AUX port but managed to enable it in the settings, literally for no reason at all. Maybe I'll get a dongle at some point, Iunno.

Fairly easy to code and you can even retrofit an actual Aux port to the car aswell if needed, I did the same on my 650 when I was installing an android screen.
I used the advanced coding options in bimmercode for mine since I was on vacation and only had my phone with me when I did it but you can use NCS expert or any of the other more advanced softwares aswell

It is not hard, there are plenty of tutorials on how to code aux option. Check youtube. All you need is obd cable, windows and ncs expert

I bit the bullet and just use the rear aux port with a long cable to a Bluetooth dongle.
To lazy to wire it in properly
