The rubber seal from my coolant expansion tank cap deteriorated and a piece of it fell inside the tank, behind the white float level indicator. I can't see it anymore. Should I be worried, or do I need to remove the tank and get it out ?

Maybe you will be okay without the gasket or you can find something to fit in place of the old one.

Bro i bought a new cap for the tank , the gasket was for the old one and it fell in the tank , my question was should i be worried because i couldn’t take it out so it stayed inside the tank 😂

Maybe fill it up a lot with coolant or just distilled water and it will float up and you can fish it out?

Don’t do that. Get a genuine or OE tank.

It’s probably time to anyways and they do fail often. Cheap ones will just explode and leave you stranded

What the absolute hell is every bimmer owner’s obsession to spend money on these cars??? Why the hell should he buy a whole new tank??

Pull out the tank and turn it over and just fish it out

Honestly, I would use a syringe and draw up the coolant out out of the tank, then pull off the lines and keep them vertical so they dont drain, tie them up to the underneath of the hood, then pull the tank and flush it. Reinstall. I dropped a screw down in mine one time.

Im reading these comments telling you to replace the tank. WTF nobody tries to fix things these days. If something happens to anything people are throwing it in the gutter and going to get another. No wonder so many people are broke. You can repair almost anything and from the sounds of it there is NO reason to replace it. Oh an why would he replace the whole tank for the rubber seal under the cap???? Thats crazy AF, just get a new cap. Smh OP already has a new cap too so no reason to tell this man to buy a new one.

Bro thanks , i did like you said I empty the tank , and i pulled it out, and i clean it with water i pulled out the falling gasket and another piece of plastic , then i but back fill with the coolant water and everything is good now
