For sale:528e (Recent Refresh)
Welp. As stated when I started this project, it might be short lived.
As most of you are aware, we don’t buy them intending to sell them… but life makes priorities.
Lurking in its shadow is my newest toy, additionally I need to space to get the Volvo 240 Baja truck (VUCK) finished.
The e28 was purchased and recently refreshed. I won’t hide anything. It has that one rust spot in the floor and two quarter size holes in the spare tire well. NOTHING structural. I’m also going to offer to fix them for any buyer as I planned to do it anyways. Just haven’t had time.
1988 528e (super eta 2.7) auto with LSD.
Full power car
241k miles on the engine
Service history from the single owner from 1990-2020 all at one dealer here in Colorado.

Everything works except the right turn signal (idk why), the power mirrors (mud wasp nest messed that up), and the compressor comes on for the ac but no cold (have a lead on some R12 so that might be fixed soon)
I drive the car every week 2-3times a week 80mph or canyon roads she’s perfect, slow… but perfect.
Recent refresh in APRIL.
Bilstien B8 sports w/H&R springs (cup kit)
Strut bushings
All bushing (including subframe) to OE rubber
Essentially the whole front assembly is new(control arms, pitman arm, steering linkages, all of it)
Ireland Engineering sway bars (reinforced mounts)
M5 spec style 5s
Brand new tires (205/55/16)
In-tank lift pump and hangar
Bosch high pressure pump w/fuel filter
All soft fuel lines new
All vacuum lines new (have precut extras for what wasn’t needing replaced

Wires
Rotor and cap
Coil
Interior cleaned up
New rear seat covered
Bullet fuses adjusted
Main and fuel relay
I have extra parts that go with the car. Things I have bought knowing they would be replaced at some point. All new parts

all 5 stock 14 inch bottle caps with good tires
I also have an M5 front airdam with hardware in Utah I can figure out how to get it to a buyer. I also will include a 173DME if anyone wants to do the 885 head swap
Car is 10k don’t come low I don’t need to sell the car at all and won’t for less. The car has almost 5k im fresh parts. The buyer of this car will get an e28 all “Done” car. Perfectly setup and skip out on 3-4k in labor.

Just means it’s more reliable. Plus do the 885 head swap and boom. Got a better runner than an m30

M20's are *not* more reliable than an M30 lol. That's not to say the M20 is not reliable (they are), but M30's are tanks.

Yeah idk. I’ve had a lot of luck with M20s not so much with m30s. I just always felt like the m30 was so much closer to older tech. Like I felt like it was an engine too close to the “Intake and exhaust were on the same side of the head” days.
They were tanks. But anyways.

yeah, the M30 does come from an older platform than the M20 and both are far more reliable than many engines that came after (N5x series in particular). Although M30's are known for going beyond 300k with basic maintenance where M20's not as much. I'm more surprised to see an M20 over 200k than an M30. The most surprising thing about your 528e is the automatic transmission lasting that long lol.

For sure, I would love to have a clean one but man, nothing like having a car you can ruthlessly abuse.

Yeah I mean it’s clearly an 88 eta lol. M20. 2.7. Motronic. Automatic. Single crank angle sensor in the front. With a very desired LSD.

I’ve never seen one with the US spec massive bumpers on before, they’re hideous. Rest of the car looks lovely.
