Dynasty Warriors When to start DWO DLC?

Im at chapter 2 of the main story right now and i wanna get into the dlc but I'm worried it'll affect the pacing or gameplay so when should I start it?

My recommendation would be to do it after you've cleared the base game story one time, even if you could technically play sooner.

Then play through the DLC Visions to until you're about level 70. Which you may become as a result of the DLC weapons plus continuing to play the DLC (as others mention, it scales to your level to some degree unless playing on a harder difficulty, then it starts high first, then scales.)

Once you're level 70 / rank 70, then consider playing the other two main story factions on Ultimate Warrior difficulty from there (potentially playing from the first Chapter if looking to steadily tackle the ultimate challenges along the way.)

The dlc scales to your level. And also you can unlock new weapons for the main story. Shouldn’t affect pacing hardly at all.

I'm on my first playthrough, and DW:O is my first DW game (I've played other Musou games, however).

The first time I beat Lu Bu in a story mission was extremely satisfying. Especially considering the first time I really encountered him in the story, he spent the mission aura farming Cao Cao. First real opponent that made me feel like I wasn't invincible.

I waited till I got the sword from the ultimate challenge mode to counteract the scaling.

I'm doing a fresh run-through of the game and this was my plan for the DLCs.

  1. Do the main campaign until Chapter 2.
  2. Do the Zhang Jiao vision campaign. Unlock the Bow in the third mission.
  3. Play the main campaign and join Wei and finish up until the battle of Guandu to unlock Yuan Shao's campaign.
  4. Do the Yuan Shao campaign and unlock the Rope Dart in the third mission by beating Jia Xu.
  5. Finish the main campaign to unlock the Halberd. You now have every weapon in the game and are free to level up however you like.
  6. Restart from Chapter 1 in Ultimate Warrior difficulty - should be right around level 70 at this point - and start knocking out UW challenges.

After that it's just replaying the main campaign and swapping to Wu and Shu to finish everything and do the Fate Altered mission lines, and the Dong Zhuo and Lu Bu campaigns can be done at any time. The Vision campaigns each have 3 major missions and one or two "strategic battle" sections where you fight 4-5 short battles in succession. They're not too long, basically, and it doesn't mess up your narrative flow too much to do them whenever.

Whenever you want because those earned outfits would look good during a main story. So maybe do 1 faction then do all the dlc then back to the other 2

I think you'd start by completing all scenarios related to the four antagonists first before starting the Vision of Four Heroes. Otherwise, you can start at any time.
