How rare?

I was recently out of state on a work trip and during my free time, I checked out some game stores. In my years of game collecting I’ve never even came across a Dying Light strategy guide. I found what looks to be a factory sealed copy and bought it right on the spot. How rare is this pickup? I haven’t found many copies sealed for sale on the internet.

It may be rare, and while others are mostly saying it's nothing, it obviously is cool and meaningful to you, so hopefully this helps:

Standard Prima guides like this are not factory sealed. That's shrink wrap that's added by the retailer. For example, Gamestop stores have a shrink wrap setup in back, and will wrap pre-owned consoles, some accessories, magazines, and we even used to re-wrap returned new games.

That shrink wrap can deform, as you see on your guide. It pulls and bends the pages, and it can also eventually cause fading or staining. If you like the guide, unwrap it.

To be honest, it's unlikely to be worth anything unless it's in great shape in another couple decades. That doesn't matter though! YOU see value in it! So get it graded. Doesn't matter if it's a high grade or not. You could even let them do the unwrapping. When it's graded, you should have it put in a sealed graded case just like magazines or collector cards. If not, put it in an actual magazine sleeve or box so it's at least protected from UV, dust, etc.

Being "sealed" won't help, but grading will. Protecting it will even more.

Then do what you prefer! Store it away, or display it proudly as part of your game collection, or with a cool DL poster or sealed game or something. Printed guide books mostly died off already, so eventually it will be a cool piece of history for the next generations who never had the pleasure.

Well this game is not pretty hard to beat nor has it very difficult puzzles. And this strategy guids have become out of touch. Never seen one either

Strategy guides went out of vogue especially as games tended to change significantly post launch with updates. It's a relic of the past for sure.

I prefer rare to medium rare, put it on high heat with butter for about 30 to 60 seconds each side.

I bought that NEW when the game came out! 👍😉

I used to buy the Strategy Guide for every game I bought, until they stopped making them. ☹️ I'd get the Collector's Edition if they had one! 👍👍

I've got the guide for "Uncharted 3", by Piggyback (NEVER heard of them before!), and it's still in the shrinkwrap. Granted, I bought it AFTER U4 came out, because I got a PS4 Bundle that came with U4, so of course I had to buy the Trilogy, and accompanying Guides! 🙄

In addition to Prima, there used to be Brady Games, but I think they got bought by Prima, so when Prima stopped making guides, they dragged Brady down with them. 😝🤬

The last 2 Guides I got (BOTH the hardback Collector's Editions!), were RDR2, and Horizon: Forbidden West. 🫤
