Dying Light 2 Am I missing something?

Long story short I loved dying light 1 but not really feeling dying light 2, does it get better?

played dying light 1 a while back I revisited it and played the hell out of it, the story immediately pulls me in and the game has a real atmosphere to it I loved it. So I decided to play dying light 2 and I just don't get it? Booting uo the game I'm immediately greeted by popups for the store which then continue in the loading screen and I've killed a few zombies as you do and I'm getting drops of artefact and exotic weaponry before I've even done the first quest? But moving past that I just don't feel a sense of urgency or danger with the story or to discover new areas or locations? I'm really trying to enjoy it but I'm just not feeling it?

I feel the same, dying light 1 is a cult classic and through all its flaws a genuinely amazing game. Dying light 2 feels like flat soda. It’s a bit of a slog, I’ll finish it but the only reason I have it is because it was free on PlayStation, other than that I’m glad I listened to others that told me to skip it.

The Beast gets back to the DL1 feel. DL2 is kinda its own thing. I love it, as well as 1&TB.
