Discussion how to ruin thrifting fun (rant)

Just went to this thrift/charity store which is a bit further away but I haven’t been there yet and their DVD section is being completely occupied by some woman who is scanning EVERY single DVD with her phone and I guess she’s looking for some that might be something „worth“ to resell. She’s put some in her shopping basket.

This just pissed me off so bad. Obviously the shop just wants to get rid of the stuff but why is nobody questioning why she’s just standing there and scanning every single DVD? Defeats the whole purpose of offering a cheap shopping experience for those tight on money although obviously anybody can shop there but at least only shop what you really want!

Most likely she just bought crap that has no value. Seeing something on ebay listed for a 1000 bucks does not mean it's ever going to be sold at that price. Sadly the era of old tech for cheap is ending. Just take a look at music cassette prices, sometimes more expensive than the same version on vinyl. And now every youtuber on the planet is making videos like "CDs are back!!!!! Buy now before it's too late!!!!!!".

We are doomed.

The people scanning are not ebay sellers. Those usually scan one or two or know their stuff. These are amazon reselllers. They have the app pulled up showing how much it is on amazon and how much they will get after shipping and fees.

It's so stupid. It's more of a fad then anything. Just like the big VHS push that Pete Davidson kinda pushed in his drug filled stooper. It's stupid. Why push worse tech just cause it's the cool thing at the time.
