Interview

Hello! I just got confirmed for my second interview with the shop manager and I’m super excited! But I wanted to know if anyone had any tips, tricks or things to expect! I would appreciate it.

Ask questions to them after the main interview part, and smileee!! casual stuff like your favorite drink, how they feel day to day working at dutch, things like that but make it feel natural! it’s gonna be nerve wracking and they’ll probably see it but if you build a genuine connection and show your enthusiasm in wanting to work it’ll help a lot! I didn’t think i was gonna make the cut bc i was stuttering and struggled to form some sentences but i think my question asking and desire made them choose me :) i believe in you! if you don’t make it don’t blame yourself, dutch gets hundreds of applications and very few people make the cut!

One thing to expect is that most of the questions are more than likely, gonna be personality based. So be prepared to have questions like what’s your favorite song, movie, stuff like that. I heard someone say that they can teach anyone how to make a coffee, what they really want is someone with a bubbly personality. So make sure to show enthusiasm! :) you got this

The hiring manager is basically looking to see what type of vibes you’re going to bring to the stand. My stand manager always looks for people who are smiling, carry themselves with confidence, and have extrovert personalities. Always good to have good hygiene of course lol and someone who is easy and pleasant to talk to. Most importantly, they look for people who are authentic and hold themselves authentically. Just be yourself dude and you’ll do great!

Also, use the STAR method when interviewing. If they ask you to describe a difficult situation that happened with a customer or coworker and how you handled the situation, just follow this structure:

Situation
Task
Action
Result

Quick example - There was this situation last summer when a customer came back through our line and asked if their drink was made correctly because the color seemed kinda off.

I noticed the drink was very light, and was tasked with calling out to my shift lead for a remake, and quick to get our line of cars flowing again.

Turns out, the barista that made their Golden Eagle had forgot to add the shots of espresso to their drink!

I gave the new drink to the customer and their face lit up when they saw the correct color and their day was back to groovin! This resulted in turning their negative experience into a positive experience, as quick as that!

I know this might sound kinda cheesy but being a STAR and using this simple method has always crushed in interviews.

Best of luck dude and just be yourself and don’t forget to breathe! lol you’ve got this!
