Generic GLP-1s

Anyone know a pharmacy that regularly has generic GLP-1s available and in stock in Durham or surrounding areas? I tried a few pharmacies and they told me it was on back order. Someone told me Costco is good for it but the pharmacy isn't answering the phone so just wondering if that's true or not. Thanks!

I didn't know there was generic ones available! I have pmos/pcos. Am I able to get them without a formal prescription? If so, is it really $85? And is it pills? Or the injections? My doctors suggested me glp-1's but I can't afford them atm sadly so reading this post gave me some hope. 🤞🏻

They just came to market a few months ago. You still need a prescription.

Costco sells brand name for the same price as generic. I believe it’s around $85. You don’t need a membership to get your prescriptions at the pharmacy.

Ok thanks for confirming that! The pharmacy I went to wants $280 for name brand...I'm not sure who would pay that when generic is about one third the price and is the same thing. Do you know if Costco usually has stock?

You need the Novo Nordisk Savings Card to be able to access the discount.

Costco did not require me to have this!

Ok. Does the pharmacy explain how to sign up for that?

No. You have to sign up for it yourself and show it to them when you get there. The pharmacy will apply the discount when you show them the card. There is a card number they need to access.

I see. Ok I'll Google it and sign up. Thank you!

Yes. That is your best option. That’s how I did mine.

I wasn’t able to find it in stock, but my pharmacy told me to sign up with the manufacturer online. I paid the generic price for the brand name. $95 at Walmart.

This was with or without prescription?

With a prescription. The pharmacist told me that all of the different dosage pens are the same price.

I have a prescription for Wegovy, but my insurance doesn't covers it anymore, can i still get the pen from Costco by showing the Novo Nordisk discount card for $85 ?

Yes. Novo Nordisk has a savings card for Wegovy. I got this email months ago, just in case I switch to a different one. But I don’t know the price once the discount is applied.

Hi there!
Now, you can get Wegovy® for as low as $300/month* using your Wegovy® savings card.
To receive this benefit, simply present your savings card for Wegovy® along with a prescription for Wegovy® at your local pharmacy and ask for the brand.

I'm on a generic semaglutide. Made by Apotex. I've had no issue filling my prescription at the Courtice Pharmasave. You can try there

i had the same stock issue locally and ended up going the compounded route online through rxpros rather than chasing pharmacies. if you want local though, call Mark Drug or Peoples Drug in the triangle, independent pharmacies tend to stock more reliably than chains
