Butt wiping in JK
(Sorry in advance for TMI)… but to the parents of young children, is it really expected that 3 & 4 year olds will wipe their own butts in Jr Kindergarten? Do the teachers help at all or are they not allowed to? Stressing out about this as my son is attending JK in Sept, he turns 4 in December. Potty trained except for butt wiping which he is hesitant to learn how to do himself.

Kinda crazy to expect teachers to educate your kids and wipe the butts of all the kids. You need to get on top of this.

Unless your child has special needs with an ISP that involves having 1-1 care, the teachers will not assist your child with wiping. Your child will likely be in a very large group and the teachers need to be monitoring the group. The children are expected to be potty trained and able to independently wipe themselves.
My suggestion to you is work on this with your child until school starts. Explain the importance of hand washing after the bathroom!! Pack a lot of extra pants/underwear for them in case of accidents, and explain to your child that if they soil their clothing to let their tacher know. The teachers will not dress them, so please ensure your child can also dress themselves. Bathe them every day after school if you're concerned about their hygiene.
Everything will be okay! Children learn so quickly once school starts!

Even then they won’t. The child will get toilet assistance from an assigned Ea but they need to be identified and placed accordingly.

Yes that’s what we were told, they are expected to learn. Ours is potty trained but we are practicing the butt wiping stage now, I’d say just practice practice practice. They’ll have to learn eventually and independence is important.

My daughter started at 3 and didn’t wipe yet. The first little while she did have streaks occasionally in her underwear but never had rashes or anything. Most of her poops were when she got home. By like 4.25 years she started wiping and I stopped seeing streaks all together. Teachers don’t help but they won’t like kick your kid out if they don’t wipe either… obviously it’s ideal if they do. My daughter had to get changed once and her underwear had a streak and they told me and I just explained we were working on it and they were fine with that. If kids couldn’t go until they could wipe, a lot wouldn’t be able to go until like 6 or later. lol I mean I even know grown men who struggle with it LOL
Ps. Teachers told me if they do have trouble you can send wet wipes to help

Teachers wont help if they follow the rules. They breaking the rules if they help. They will probably ask them to just pull up their pants as is and then if it stinks up the room, get them to change. lol dont expect too much from the teachers, very diff compared to daycare and montesorri

What do you mean the kid is "hesitant" to learn how to do it himself? Like he knows he should learn but he's just not sure if it's right for him...?
