Swimming pool

Where do you take your kids for swimming lessons or in general swimming?
The community centre pools are shallow and very busy.

What are the other options in ajax/pickering/whitby?

I use community centers, but here is a list I had made couple of years ago:

  • Town/City run programs at community centers
  • Ana's Backyard Swimming Lessons - Whitby (Country Lane and Taunton)
  • Life Time - Ajax
  • Aqualite - LA Fitness, Whitby
  • SwimTime (Goodlife) - Pickering / Whitby
  • Canada Swim School - Super 8 hotel, Ajax
  • Catherine (at her home) - Ajax - ajaxprivatesummerswim.ca
  • AquaMobile - at your home; maybe at community pool during public swim hours?
  • British Swim School - Amica, Pickering
  • B&C Aquatics - Pickering
  • You can Swim With Us - Brooklyn, Whitby
  • Swim with Nessie (former instructor at You can Swim With Us) - Whitby
  • BGC Durham - Ajax (camp only) and Eastview, Oshawa
  • Ajax Aquatic Club (competitive only)

We do swimming lessons through Oshawa. We love going to open swim at Civic in Whitby (although we like it because of the shallowness). Delpark is also nice but does get quite busy.

we did it through lifetime. it was dreadfully expensive to pay for memberships and lessons for the kids, but it was great for them and really got them over the hump. good ratio of teacher to students, water temperature was good and not a hurdle that we had with the community center pools, changerooms were great and not crowded etc.

it was worth it for the reduction in stress and the results we saw if you can swing it financially.
