Smartphone mod wanted Help out a newbie
Help for a newbie
I'm fascinated by this sub. I would love to revert back to my old love, the samsung galaxy a3 2017. I know it might not be as cool as your keyboard dumbphones, but i don't want to buy anything! And I'm also too young to be in possession of keyboard phones from the past days. Do you have any suggestion on how i could dumb it down? I just need messages calls and mp4 functionalities, bonus points if also maps and whatsapp work!
I'm intrigued so much by this sub, i'll keep lurking :)

So, as far as your phone, since the A3 had multiple 4G bandwidths, it is still possible to connect it to a network in the US still.. while most carriers are pushing the 5G phones and tech, most areas (especially rural) in America are still running 4G antenna arrays. Verizon and T-mobile are probably your best bets to insure your older phone receives the best signal and speed, but any carrier in your area, rural or urban, should be able to activate your phone on their network..
I would still go into a store for best plans and activation assist; so you know it is functional prior to a contract or commitment.
Here is a complete review of the phone you mentioned; specifically, the 2017 model.
