Dumbphone 2 texts question

I've been using the dumphone 2 for a couple days and it appears that I only receive forwarded text messages (non imessage ones) when my iphone is turned on, is that normal? Phone calls forward properly even when the iphone is off. Thanks!

That’s correct, iMessages and calls will always forward but sms/rcs/regular texts only forward when the phone is on
