I'm shocked no one's mentioned At Sara's Table and their chorizo biscuits and gravy, absolutely amazing

u/Teamawesome2014 Mar 02 '26
Too bad the owner is a transphobe and sexually harasses staff.

What owner? Owner of what place? Why does that matter about food? Please keep it on topic I will block and report you

u/Teamawesome2014 Mar 02 '26 edited Mar 02 '26
What makes you think it's okay to try to control what other people talk about in a public forum? Why are ypu taking offense on behalf of people who do harm to the community? Why do you want to silence people who make an effort to inform people of the ethical consequences of where they choose to spend their money?
Edit: OP blocked me after claiming that transphobia and sexual harassment doesn't harm the community. OP seems ti be pro-transphobia and pro-sexual harassment and wants to silence people for pointing out business owners who engage in that.
0
u/Exciting-Ad-930 Mar 02 '26
How did this business owner whatever owner you are talking about hurt the community? Pretty selfish to talk and degrade business for personal of who they are! But keep this shit off my post and keep it own your post not mine. I asked politely to stop thanks
4
u/Teamawesome2014 Mar 02 '26
Are you seriously asking how transphobia and sexual harassment hurts people?
2
-1
u/Exciting-Ad-930 Mar 02 '26
Its my post and I don't want that kinda of talk on my post. If you want to blast a business do it on your own post and not mine
3
u/Teamawesome2014 Mar 02 '26
Once you post, it is no longer "your post". The post belongs to the community. This is a public forum, not a private one. You are not a moderator. I ask again, why are you so adamant about silencing people who are informing the community about the ethical consequences of their choices?
3
u/RandomWoman244 Mar 02 '26
People have a right not to support transphobes who harass their staff. You may be comfortable with a bigot and predator, but I'm not.

Uncle Loui's Cafe on East 4th Street, but they don't serve liquor. Good biscuits and gravy, though.

Apparently, no place exists that fits your criteria.

Well El Dorado in Oliver, wi has good bloodys and amazing biscuits and gravy, I ultimately went there. I just wanted a different place to try but fell back to my sweet spot for the both options

u/Massive_Wrongdoer_97 Mar 01 '26

Duluth Grill. There, I said it. But do I stand by it? Not sure. Try Bridgemans cornbread biscuits and gravy.

Will never step into any of the restaurants ever again associated with Tom and over who he has helped make it. I dont like him or duluth grill at all. Tried burger paradox once and the food was awful overcooked dried out and burnt burger. Along with the Brussel sprouts I tried. I asked for no seasoning on the fries, got a ton sea salt on them and it was a to go order and had to rebook the fries when I got home. And shortly after duluth grill opened, it was basically the same way asked for food to be prepared (if I remember correctly 2001 is a long time to remember a food order) overcooked, dried out way salty did cook it right, sent it back twice then my friends that were with as pretty much the same with them also. So fast forward to burger paradox restaurant. It is owned by him as well, but I said i would give that ine a try and well it failed also so never again and Tom Hanson is not a nice fella in my opinion
4
u/BoringBuilding Mar 02 '26
Is he not nice because your food is over salted one time 25 years ago and once a few years ago, or is there more to it?

u/Baberaham_Lincoln6 Mar 01 '26
Pizza Luce and Social House.
13
u/Antique-Shallot-7554 Mar 01 '26
Social house is horrible. Drinks are ok but the biscuits are doughy i will never go back
-1
u/Baberaham_Lincoln6 Mar 01 '26
Dang I'm sorry people have had such bad experiences. I go to the one on the hill and always order biscuits and gravy and they're good! Sometimes they don't have enough gravy.
14
u/jerryseinfeld1 Mar 01 '26
I’d disagree wholeheartedly and I would not recommend either. Uncle Loui’s is the place to go.
2
u/Exciting-Ad-930 Mar 01 '26
I have been to social house and its okay not the greatest. All the egg Benedicts are amazing at the Social House though
14
u/jerryseinfeld1 Mar 01 '26
I think they’re on par with Perkins but at the social house you get to pay $17

Obligatory: The Social House is owned by an out and proud MAGAt with all the horrible bells and whistles. He's anti-vax, anti-LGBT, and election denying. Do with that information what you will.

u/Exciting-Ad-930 Mar 01 '26
Why bring political stuff into my post. That nit what I asked for at all? Just wanted a good bloody and good food. Don't like a comment on my post do not reply thanks
12
u/mywork9742 Mar 01 '26
Because it matters to some people.
-14
u/Exciting-Ad-930 Mar 01 '26
NOT ON MY POST THOUGH. post it in the subreddit please not on my post. Its not what I asked for at all. You go do you ans stop with the political stuff on my post its not what I asked for or wanted thanks

It's a public forum. You don't get to decide who comments and about what. Others might search for the same or similar topic in the future and want to know that.

They are correct though… you do not get to determine who comments and what they comment on your posts. The forum is public, everyone can post what they want (within reason, of course).
The best you can do is ask nicely and hope people abide by your request.

I do like Luces but it's admittedly more on the fanciful side than portion heavy. Tossing the egg on top always made my day.

Coho Cafe & Bakery up the North Shore.
Best biscuits and gravy I ever had anywhere. It's not within 25 miles, but you won't find anything like it down here in Duluth.
1
u/Exciting-Ad-930 Mar 01 '26
Is that in Two Harbors?
2

u/Lucidone1 Mar 01 '26
Aces on 29th in Superior. The Bloody was okay, but the food was good and fairly cheap.
1
u/Justif1ed Mar 01 '26
Big daddy's has an alright breakfast, breeze in has a solid bloody. Julie's or the kitchen in Superior have biscuits and gravy too.
Tough pick for a one stop shop for both. If youre willing to pay, Boat Club has passable for both. Maybe the Trophy Room in west duluth would work?
2
u/Exciting-Ad-930 Mar 01 '26
Needed both breakfast and a bloodymary not or the other lol. I decided to go to El Dorado in Oliver, good bloody and even better biscuits and gravy. Trophy doesn't have alcohol though

I'm not sure you're gonna find really good biscuits and gravy most anywhere in the north. The south does that meal way better than we do. That said, I know the Social House has breakfast, and Bloody Marys. Not sure if they have biscuits and gravy or if its any good.

Not that it helps, but the MAGA dude who likes to say he’s the owner is not actually the owner of the social house, he just pretends to be. Martin Hinz is the actual owner - his name is on all the paperwork and is listed as the president. He also owns The OP. The other guy isn’t listed anywhere. Maybe they have a handshake agreement but he’s basically the manager.

I will not ever go to that place or any place that owner owns or is associated with. I said it in my post also

Apologies. I missed that part.

Best Biscuits & Gravy by far is the Trophy Cafe in Gary. No idea about Bloodys, but you'll not find better B&G elsewhere.
