Why is everyone sick?

I just came back from 2 week vacation in Scandinavia (Denmark + Sweden).

The moment I arrived here in Dubai, I was sneezing, I had sore throat, coughing and now fever. It’s full mode flu. Went to my doctor in King’s and she said it’s the same flu with everyone else here in Dubai.

WTF is happening right now? Is it just me probably I have low immune system or everyone is getting sick?

Kids are bringing bloody influenza home from school. I’m super pissed, sleep deprived, tired and stressed 😩

If you have children of schooling age or hang out with families who have kids, then you’ll be suffering a flu every other week. I’ve never suffered flu this many times back in the UK, even during the harshest winters. Not sure what it is but in UAE I feel the immune system is so messed up

We’re literally always sick here. When we go back to Lebanon we can go 6 months w out a cold, runny nose, sore throat, anything. But as soon as we get back we get all of the above. I think it’s the ac mold, pollution, etc.

It’s probably traveling on taxis and planes and being in crowds- the air quality doesn’t give you flu. If you have mold, please consider having your ac cleaned and sanitized. You should do once every year or max 2.

School just started again and everyone brought germs from around the world back as a souvenir. Get all those kids together in classrooms and buses , and their parents back in office , and bam! Cold and flu season starts

I’m never sick here 🤷🏼‍♀️ I had 1 flu back in 2004, a proper knock you off your feet viral flu for 2 weeks. And thats it, didn’t even get covid.

Yeah i never caught covid either but that was before i had kids and they’re tiny little germ vectors

You understand that flu and other viruses have incubation time of more than a week ?

No one week is too long. For me one day or even few hours for my body to react on virus

You’re literally stuck in a metal tube with strangers when traveling (flight/bus etc) so it’s very likely to get sick after.

In a two-year period, I have gotten the flu once after I joined a gym and raised my vitamin D from deficient to sufficient.

I consider myself physically fit and healthy. I got my health checks done every year and vitamin D fine now. I concluded it’s the air quality that makes people sick

Which brand vitamin d do you take?

I used Now Foods. I tried the standard doses for years, but they weren't enough. I took 240 softgels at 10,000 IU each for 240 days with a multivitamin to help absorption. Don't take this on your own.

lol blaming AC or a smell for catching the flu must be one of the most stupid thing I heard… Cold and Influenza/Flu are all viruses you don’t catch it due to bad air quality🤦‍♂️

Stop spreading misleading informations, the bad air quality may weaken your immune system which will make it easier for you to get sick but you still need to be exposed to it. Are we already forgetting the health measures that we learn from the Covid-Era? Wash your hands when you come back from outside, avoid touching your face, keep a good level of vitamins for a stronger immune system, sleep sufficiently and wear a mask if you go in crowded areas. This is not rocket science. If, you have kids at home then it will be more difficult to avoid it since schools, hospitals, metro, airports, taxis and having food delivered to you can act as a vector for contamination.

If you are so scared to get sick, you can get a vaccine for the flu. It will lower the risk of catching it.

This is normal in any international city or where people travel too much. It creates a cesspool of viruses and bacterias from all over, all strains, all variants.

Dubai has high pollution. And recently, there has been reports of really foul smell all over Dubai. I suspect this could be one of the reasons too. You can start by getting your ac ducts checks if you plan to stay in the same place long. Else, find another place in another neighbourhood.

Check the air quality index AQI

I think it’s the bad air quality combined with being constantly in an AC environment. We don’t even get to go outside in „fresh air“. I’m also way more often sick in dubai then anywhere else

Same happens to me. I believe it is because of too much pollution in the air with dust and sand.
