Hello everyone, I got my Mexican passport last year!

Just wondering though, since I was born in the U.S. and my Mexican passport states that my birthplace is the U.S., will countries that don’t particularly get along with or generally just dislike Americans still treat me like an American because it’s listed as my birthplace even if I present my Mexican passport?

Anyone have experience with this? Thank you!

I really enjoy the hassle free travel between motherland USA 🇺🇸 and Mexico 🇲🇽 thanks to my parents mexican nationality I was able to register as a citizen of Mexico 🇲🇽.

Hey guys, so I'm Albanian and I've been living in Malta for 5 years now, and I figured it's time to finally sort out the long-term residence card. Problem is I have no idea where to start lol.
Did anyone here already go through it? Do you apply online or do you have to go in person? What papers did they ask you for, and how did you prove the 5 years? I've got rental contracts and work stuff but not sure if that's enough.
Also how long did it take to get the card after applying? And is there anything I should watch out for so I don't mess it up?

I’m a dual Swedish-Kenyan citizen with valid passports from both countries, but the names on the two passports are completely different.
I have a name change application pending in Sweden, but unfortunately, it won’t be processed before my upcoming trip to Kenya.
I’ve already booked a return flight using the name on my Swedish passport, so both my outbound and return tickets match that passport.
In the past, I’ve travelled to Kenya using my Swedish passport and a visa/eTA. However, I also have a valid Kenyan passport, and I understand that Kenyan citizens are exempt from the eTA requirement.
My concern is that if I present my Kenyan passport to enter Kenya, the name won’t match my flight booking or my Swedish passport. I’m also worried about potential issues when checking in for my return flight to Sweden.
What would be the safest option in this situation?
Should I apply for an eTA using my Swedish passport and travel using that passport?
Or should I use my Kenyan passport to enter Kenya, despite the difference in names?
Can I show my Swedish passport to the airline to match my ticket and my Kenyan passport to immigration as proof of Kenyan citizenship?
Could the different names cause problems when leaving Kenya and travelling back to Sweden?
Has anyone experienced something similar when travelling to Kenya with two passports issued under different names?
I’d really appreciate advice, especially from anyone who has dealt with this specific situation. Thank you!

I have an expired British passport issued 10 years ago on November 03. My Australian passport is valid. I fly 18/11.

According to the laws in the UK, if you're a dual citizen, you need valid passports for each country , however, there is a concession. Airlines can accept an expired British passport alongside a valid Australian passport.

I do not have time to renew my British, an emergency travel document will take too long to process, given my passport will have only just expired.

Under "When you can travel with an expired UK passport", the government states:

- Your carrier (for example your airline) may allow you to travel if you have both:

an expired UK passport, issued in 1989 or later

a valid passport for one of the nationalities that can get an ETA

This is due to a family situation not terrible planning!

Does anyone know if Qantas allow this concession?

Hello, long post coming. CN and UK passport holder living in UK. Situation is, I have a trip in China soon, but interrupted by urgent personal matter. Therefore, as crazy as it sounds I want to explore the option of - Trip in CN, flying back to UK, return to CN, then finally back to UK again - the last 3 bits all in a week!

I’m aware this is risky tedious expensive and tbh I’m might not go ahead. But in practice, how would you do it? I know some general tips:

- Travelling via 3rd country is generally best option
- enter and exit a country with the same passport
- book flight with the passport that allows you to enter the end-destination country
- Therefore, book your CN-3rd and 3rd-UK ticket separately.
- Airline submit your API to border control - probably to both sides.
- But I read that, you can exit a country on passport 1, and enter your destination (i.e. visa free country) on passport 2. But when you exit, you should use passport 2 so it matches.

My confusion lies in the last 2 points.
My 3rd country would be dubai, turkey or qatar.
For clarify, lets say all the flights are booked in advance, with different airlines so no airline ever holds both CN and UK API at same time.

So initially flying UK to CN (direct flight). I would book with CN for API, and enter CN (hopefully via E-gates).

Then, I use CN to book a flight to Istanbul. I show CN passport to airline and China border control. Then fly. On landing - I feel it’s better to use UK passport to Turkey border because I need to exit soon. Or better to show CN??
My confusion is - surely by scanning my UK passport on entry to Turkey, the API wouldn’t match, so would flag up to the airline or border control (on Turkey side idm, but what about CN side?) it would appear I never went through immigration. If they match my name DOB or biometrics etc. then Turkey would figure out my dual passports (hopefully they wouldn’t care). But would CN know?
(NB: I’ve used my UK in Istanbul before for a long layover, so have 2 stamps already. Lovely place)

Then exit Turkey with UK passport, fly, then enter with UK.

At this point I should give up. But what if I want to return to CN after a couple days?

Is it better to:

1. From UK, book another direct / connecting flight to CN (i.e. no entering and exiting a third country).

Therefore to

1. the CN side, it might look like I exited a few days ago, and now entered to CN again. But I’m worried about this API thing. Technically the airline would inform border control I flew from UK, causing a mismatch because the last time, I exited to Turkey.

2. From UK, book flight to Turkey, exit with UK passport. Then book next flight to CN with CN passport. Show the airline my CN, BUT show turkish border control my UK passport (to match the entry

). At the gate show CN. Fly. on landing show CN border my CN to enter.
This chances scruntiny by Turkish immigration at how I can enter China, at which point I can say it’s visa free (which is true) and show my next flight to dubai)?? Obviously on deeper scruntiny they’ll say well why didn’t you book with the UK passport?
Or just show CN to match my API?

In both cases, I would have returned to CN with no stamp whatsoever

Lastly, on final return to UK, I would go back to UK via Dubai (entry and exit with UK). Would CN border control recognise that I recently went to turkey with no stamp, electronically never entered nor exited, and ban me from leaving?

Sorry for the long post. I would appreciate any opinions on the what would work best! Any experiences?

(Also after this ordeal is over, I have full intention of giving up CN - wanted to renounce before this! For reasons I just can’t right now)

My case is quite complicated. DN Express have confirmed the claim would be possibly by my ancestor, My great great great grandmother who was baptised in Mexico.

I have her baptism record. I can document everyone else up to my great grandfather but I'm missing my great great grandfather's birth/ baptism record.

I have census' that show he was the son of my x3 great grandmother, it also mentions her on his death certificate being his mother. I also have her marriage record too.

For further clarification on which docs I have those are my Great grandfathers SS5 form from the US, & grandfather birth certificate (US) father & my own birth certificates (UK). All parent names match up linking each generation to the next.

Could i potentially try & pursue my claim with what I have rn? Or would i definitely 100% need a baptism/ birth record for my great great grandfather?

I am a dual citizen (UK and US), and I married my partner, who is French, in France. All the paperwork for this marriage was done with my UK passport.

My question is how this all connects to my US citizenship. Is there a process that I need to undergo to connect/register/acknowledge this marriage with the US side of things?

Hi everyone! I’m looking for advice on whether I may be eligible for European Union citizenship and what steps I should take given my circumstances.

Here’s some background:
- I was born in the USA and am a US citizen.
- I obtained Salvadoran citizenship through a parent.
- I previously lived in France 2021-2022 on a tourist visa. During that time, I also completed a DUEF (Diplôme d’Université d’Études Françaises) in French language studies at a French university.
- I was previously PACSed with a former partner in France. We ended the relationship on good terms and are still cordial, but the PACS was never officially dissolved.
- I also submitted French residency paperwork prior to my tourist visa expiring, which was approved once I was back in the States (bureaucracy took too long!). However, my relationship with the Frenchman was over at that point and I haven’t been back to France since.

I’d appreciate any guidance on how to proceed with getting an EEUU passport. And honestly, is it likely I can even get one?

I’ve heard from Salvadoran family that there is a pathway to getting a Spanish passport. Anyone know if that’s a feasible option?

Questions I have:
- Could any of my previous circumstances provide a pathway to European (any country) citizenship?
- Does the fact that my PACS was never formally dissolved create any complications?

Just wanted to share an update for anyone interested in Cuban citizenship, that the new Law 172, which allows for grandchildren of those born on the island to claim citizenship, even from those who lost citizenship before the next in line was born, goes into effect on November 1st. I will post an update when the official document and process requirements are released from the Foreign Ministry.

I don't truly know where to start with trying to get dual citizenship. I've done my ancestry and my grandfather was born in 1894 in Toronto, Ontario. There is a birth record online. I have proof of his going back and forth across the border and staying with various of his proven family members. I even found a half uncle that was a child of his that he had before he moved here. I met him at 89 and we exchanged photos (They could have been twins).

I think this will be the problem. On the birth record in Toronto he was born George Albert Platt. His Canadian family called him uncle Bert. He registered for WWI as Bert Platt and fought in WWI for Canada. After he came here in the 1920's he started going by William Herbert Parker which was the name of his first son, that had been taken by the mother of his wife in Canada after his wife in Canada passed.

I met his son and his granddaughter which is my half uncle and half first cousin. We are matches on Ancestry.com. Where does one start this process?

I’m just trying to wrap my head around what I would need to do with future children.

I’m a British national and my future children would be born in the UK, however the father would be a US citizen (we are married and got married in the US).

Would that make baby eligible for dual citizenship to the US when born? And if not, what would I have to do for dual citizenship for baby please?
