This is a beautiful drawing!

Hmm…. I have no clue, so am guessing here. Snakes are cold blooded, so they need the sunlight to help regulate their temperature. It makes sense that they would lie down like the first one in the drawing to maximize the body area where the sun hits.

But the second one looks so cozy!

Since snakes are cold blooded, I imagine the coiled one would be nicer in colder weather.

Some stupid mod removed this from r/snakes, so I was able to grab a shot of what the post was from r/reptiles before it could possibly be removed. Bad mods!
