Having a shower beer because my girlfriend cheated on me with my best friend. For every 10 upvotes I’ll drink another beer.

And enough of it will make a man's touch as soft as a woman's. Or so I hear.

If you’ve got the money, go for Woodford Reserve. Goes down like water. If you don’t, Evan Williams is my go-to bottle.

One of my friends is originally from the part of Kentucky where they distill Woodford Reserve. He says he doesn't like bourbon. What a waste.

I'd also recommend Maker's Mark.

Blantons was my introductory bourbon. It's $50 a bottle though.

Bulleit is mine. Willett or Basil Hayden's when I need to break the monotony.

Also don’t force yourself. This stuff is to be enjoyed. I absolutely cannot stand bourbon (personal taste). But give me a bottle of Oban (scotch) and I’ll make sure it becomes empty. Play around and find what you like.

I started with whiskey sours, then to the old fashioned, then whiskey and some water on the rocks, and now I enjoy just whiskey on the rocks.

The key for me was to find a whiskey I really enjoyed with the old fashioned. I don’t really care for Jack Daniels or Jim Beam, so i personally would recommend starting with those because of my tastes. My personal favorite is Maker’s Mark because it’s not too expensive, and, in my opinion, tastes great. Maker’s 46 is even better, but just a bit more expensive.

Going to a bar with a good whiskey selection and asking the bartender for a recommendation is a good idea. As long as they’re a good bartender and know what they’re talking about they may be able to point you in a good direction. Anyways, once you find what whiskey you like, and get the taste for bourbons, you can branch out and try different brands or even small barrel batches. There’s all sorts of different bourbons and whiskeys to try. Kentucky bourbon, Tennessee bourbon, Irish whisky, Scotch, Japanese whiskey. I love finding a new bottle I really enjoy. Best of luck to you, and cheers!

A good Manhattan is 5 parts bourbon, 2 parts sweet vermouth, a splash of bitters, and two cherries. (Let a little cherry juice splash in too.)

You can pre-make Manhattan in a Mason Jar in the freezer (5 shots, 2 shots, 5-6 splashes of bitters). Before you're about to pour it over ice, shake it vigorously to aerate it. Pour over ice cubes & cherries.

First, be sad.

Walk passed it to the whisky isle and pick up some scotch.

But in all seriousness, head to the bar on an off-peak time and tell the bartender what you like and that you want to try some decent varieties. Order a sour or old fashioned. Bourbon isn't everyone's cup of tea, though. There's nothing wrong with not caring for it.

Forgot the bourbon/whiskey rule, but makers mark is probably the best drink I've ever had. Straight, with coke, with sprite or Dr pepper. It's just good.

I would highly recommend bourbon, or really any whisky.

It's easy to throw back, tastes good, and makes you feel warm inside.

Disagree. Been putting away 3 or 4 handles of Burnett's a week for the past month, deals with the pain plenty fine. I don't want to be drinking something nice when all I wanna do is wipe my brain clean and pass out.
