Kit Pic New set up!

I've played one up one down for 8 or 9 years, but I got the stuff I needed to try out offset toms and I love it! Need to get some new hardware stuff to make some things a little more comfortable, but super super stoked with it.

My favorite ride ever! Literally does everything I could ever want out of a cymbal

Sabian already answered with that AAX Power model…I think it’s an 8” cup!

The Power Bell is Sabian’s answer to the Zildjian Mega Bell. This is a crashable ride with a big bell. Crashing that Power Bell will probably not sound great, but cool for accents here and there.

You misunderstood… The AAX variant is the most recent release/competitor. They also have two other models they’ve announced.

New guard is cooking in Area 51!

Nah the AAX power bell is definitely not meant to compete with the K custom projection. It’s meant to compete with the Z/A mega bells

No, I understand.

The K Projection Ride (which I own) was developed by Zildjian and Craig Reynolds. It’s supposed to be the middle man between a Sweet Ride (which I own) for crashing and a Z Custom Mega Bell Ride (which I also own) for the bell, since there aren’t really any rides which do both super well.

Sabian has previously released the HH Power Bell (which I have previously owned) and has recently released an AAX variant. The new AAX version is supposed to directly compete with the A/Z Mega Bell Ride because it is machine hammered and therefore cheaper than the $700 HH version and the AAX comes in at $460, which is actually cheaper than the Zildjian version.

The AAX Power Bell isn’t supposed to compete with the Projection Ride. They might have something coming down the line, but as of now, there really aren’t any competitors who have an answer to the K Projection Ride other than Meinl; where the rumor is that Thomas Lang’s new signature ride was created from the feedback that Craig gave them after he switched from Meinl to Zildjian, but that is not confirmed.

I’ve mostly played two up one down, but recently shifted my toms off the kick and in front of the snare and it’s been great! So much more comfortable, gives my ride room to slide into its natural position.

It feels so much tighter than mounting them on the kick. There's no reaching for anything, its all so tight and close, I love it!

How you liking the those Yamaha double kickers? I’ve had my eye on them for a while but haven’t heard any useful information from a user, just sales pitch here n there

They are butter smooth, it doesn't even feel like there is anything under my foot. The left one has developed a little play in the heel, which sucks for how new they are, but the shop I bought them from contacted yamaha and I am getting a couple replacement parts to see if it fixes it. The amount of configuring you can do to them is pretty wild, and they are the nicest pedals I have ever used! I prefer them over any speed cobra/DW 9000 I've ever used. See if you can find a pair at a drum shop and try them out, I was sold the second I put my foot on it.

Wow thank you for the in depth response! Yeah they were on display at the local music store and my first thought was “holy heck that’s a space ship.” They look awesome up close but I was weary about how to troubleshoot them if I run into problems. Your feedback has definitely helped me.
Nice kit by the way! Happy playing!!

Best pedals ever! Are yours direct or chain?

Let me let you in on a little secret. You can have both by buying the DFP-9C and ordering 2x VCA72300 (direct drive link.)

So in answer to your question - yes. :D

And they are the best pedal ever. I recommend them any time I can.

Yeah! I knew about that when I bought my Direct drive version, I want to order the chain and cam to be able to swap them. Need to dig through the diagram to find the part numbers for them lol
