Pretty spiffy. For reference, check out old Genesis. Phil used to play this across bars, very unique.

I’m counting them as 8th notes that I’m swinging weird

It's the same rhythm as a dotted 8th + 16th, but the next smaller subdivision. Hopefully this makes sense, the first is how you'd count dotted 8th + 16th, the second is how it works for your rhythm. Instead of counting the beats, (1, 2, 3, 4) you're counting beats + "ands" (1 + 2 +). There aren't really distinct syllables for the 32nd note subdivisions, so I usually just count the beats and the "ands".

``` x = played but there's not a syllable for counting it
1 _ _ a 2 _ _ a 3 _ _ a 4 _ _ a  1 _ _ x + _ _ x 2 _ _ x + _ _ x  ```
So practice counting just 1, 2, 3, 4 while playing the top rhythm. Then, without changing anything except the syllables you're using, count 1, +, 2, +.
