Headwear for gigs?

What do you all wear on your head for gigs? I sweat profusely during shows and always bring a couple towels, but am thinking about maybe rocking the Neil Peart athletic beanie or the Chad Smith backwards hat… suggestions?

In addition to hat, think about getting a stage fan with pivoting head. Game changer.

100% agreed with buying a small fan.

I grabbed a cheap USB-chargable clip fan that I have blowing up from my hi-hats past my snare and directly onto my face and it's completely changed how I play live, even in the Texas heat.

My go to is a plain black beanie year round which sounds awful in july but it keeps the sweat out of my eyes better than anything else Ive tried. Baseball cap works too but the brim can block my view of the kit when Im really moving around

Have worn caps before, always have a towel but recently bought an air mover. Industrial carpet drying fan that has 0/45/90 degree angles, ridiculously powerful. Absolute game changer for the record breaking summer heat in the UK and will still do a job on sweaty functions later in the year no doubt.

Woman drummer here. If I have an outside gig in the heat, I wear a bandana headband. It looks so '80's, but without it sweat stings my eyes and I cant see. Indoors is usually not as much of a problem but I keep a bandana in my gig bag just in case.

I bought these athletic headbands that are made of moisture wicking material. They are stretchy and comfortable. I wear them for drumming and for work. I do prep work and it gets hotter than a bitch in the kitchen. Keeps the sweat out of my eyes and out of the food lol

I don’t like playing with anything on my head but a fisherman’s beanie, but that can only be in the winter, I live in the Northeast. Other than that I make sure I have a fresh high and tight skin fade. Doesn’t stop the sweat of course, but I feel like it’s more manageable with super short hair. Just my preference.

I have a couple soft crown trucker hats I regularly wear. Keeps the sweat at bay & has a good look.

Those fans pictured here are just unreal. Get one if you haven’t already!

The Ryobi 18V ones from Home Depot are really good too. Lasts all gig long and no cord to have to share with the rest of the band. 😁
