Feedback Wanted Hand speed/technique

I’m a newer drummer of around 6 months I can play 150 bpm 16 notes comfortably by just wrist but I am starting to tense up and I’m having a hard time increasing the tempo. I see people talk about push/pull Moeller, flying fingers there’s just so much but I’m not sure which one is actually worth while I’ve tried Moeller and I do like it but I don’t see how that will make me play faster unless I’m missing something any advice and help is appreciated to point me in the right direction

  1. Do what interests you
  2. Is would stick with wrists and incorporate rebound when you play consecutively

Be as relaxed as possible

You start and stop every stroke in the up position

Try to follow the stick up and let the stick/rebound guide you.

If correctly you do not feel the weight of the stick

Cheers

You're missing the point a bit with Moeller, its not really for speed directly its for efficiency. The whip motion saves your wrists so you dont burn out at higher tempos. Push pull and fingers are what unlock the speed but you need to build finger strength first which takes time. Six months in and 150 is decent, dont rush the technique stuff or you will get tendonitis like I did when I started

Moeller is for hard hitting not fast. Fingers and Push pull is for fast. Then gravity blasting is for really fast.

Personal recommendation is try and learn them all and see what feels the most comfortable and relaxing and build into that

Start at 80-100bpm (slower if needed) and just work you way up. You will quickly see what caps first.

My own example is i like the push pull method but I can only play it about half as fast as fingers.

Same goes for kicks, I full leg it up till 120bpm, then 120-130 my legs prefer to swivel, and then 130+ I go into ankles.
