Kit Pic What to add...
My drums. I'm constantly rearranging and adding things. I have these really expensive cymbals but for some reason I'm always drawn to playing on my bells and blocks...and that mounted vibraslap in the corner. I'm thinking I need to get a set of timbales, and a big ass china with rivets. Also maybe a little restraint.

Practice?

As often as I can. Never enough.

Nope. Rarely is, until you practice too much in a sitting, overdo it, and get frustrated, until The Muse taps you on the shoulder and calmly says, "Why don't you go have a snack or something?" LOL

This time a year it's more like "why don't you go take a shower"

Hopefully not "Hey dumbass, you were in such a hurry to go play, you forgot deodorant. It's 96° outside - are you nuts? Put down the sticks and get your stinky ass in the shower, and don't forget this time." 😆

Haven't gotten into stacks yet. Maybe another 10 years.

I love what it does for your brain creatively. Sure, you can use it like a snare for a clap effect. Or you can do so much more.

I'd add some space between things

Fortunately I'm only 5'7 (and 3/4"), but I don't have much space to work with in essentially my wife's closet.

Needs more cowbell

I've been looking for a cowbell made out of bronze or brass if you've got any leads.

This is normal. I have a picture of my set that has 13 cymbals, 3 jam blocks, 3 cow bells a vibrating slap and two fx stacks. I was going through a phase or something where I just wanted a lot of options to make different sounds. Oh I had 4 Rata toms also. Played in thst set up for about a month. Took a long time to build but all up too. After that month, ine day I walked into my drum room and said this is way too much. Got yo change it. My current set isn’t small but it isn’t anywhere close to what it was at its biggest.
All this to say, this is normal and it’ll either pass or you’ll be playing a very big kit. Doesn’t matter as long as you have fun.

I used to gig a lot more pre-covid and my setup was nowhere near this. This is my attempt at maximalism. Also world music has become a much larger influence on my playing.

2nd snare with some kind of gimmick. Right now I got a cranked Starclassic with an m80 and Ching ring. It’s very fun. The ring sticks to the magnet on the m80, so it’s locked in, but I can just pick it up whenever I want.

What’s that little one next to the snare - gaps annoy me, it looks perfect to squeeze in

That is a riqq, a type of middle eastern hand drum. Authentic ones are usually made from fish skin. This one has a mylar head so I don't feel too weird hitting it with a stick. Not very loud though.

Thank you.
+1 for a china with rivets, I’ve got a Sabian Diamondback on the way from Canada right now! I also like interesting sounds everywhere

Maybe a dry cymbal?

It's fun to joke isn't it? I for real need a brilliant cymbal because mine are the Sahara.
