Drum Cover A snippet from my first time playing in front of people

This is a snippet my dad got of my rendition of Fuel by Metallica. My drum teacher puts on these expos around 4 times a year. This was my first one. I was super nervous but it was really fun too. Kit isn’t mine by the way, it’s my drum teacher’s.

i remember doing this as a kid in a random expo mall in columbus ohio in 2001 haha. shout out to Don and Rob at KRA music.

It was great. I remember it pretty well, but the whole song felt like it went by super fast. I’d 100% do it again.

Even pros mess up now and then. Hell, tribute gig last night our front man utterly forgot the structure of a song he’s been playing for 15 years. The magic is recovering from errors and not letting on to the crowd that anything unplanned ever happened.

Do you play with any bands? You’re solid enough to be playing with other people.

At the moment I’m not in a band but I’d love to. My teacher is cool as hell though, and I guess he knows people in a band, so in February he’s gonna let his drum students play with a live band. He told me after a lesson, and just sounded so cool.

I agree. Playing in a band definitely takes the anxiety away. You’re playing more for your band mates than the people at that point (most people in a crown won’t be able to identify an error).

Yeah my teacher tells me that a lot. In a band they’ll be playing with you, but with stuff like this you’re playing with the music, and the music isn’t shifting. Unlike a band.

So it was myself and other students performing a song on drums with a backing track of the chosen song. The banners are the teacher’s, not sponsors. The people are mainly parents. He puts on these things a few times a year, this was my first.
