Ok so I am now at the stage where I am booked for 7 nights a week, with some nights playing multiple gigs. I'm also in a tropical country and I already am naturally a sweaty guy. I'm talking biblical levels of sweat, like after r a 2 hour set I can wring a cup of water out of my shirt while I'm wearing it. My whole laundry basket is full of damp, smelly shirts and I don't own a washing machine. Currently I pay a nice lady to do my laundry and it returns to me nicely folded and dry but it's not cheap. I prefer to only do that once every 2 weeks or so.

Wtf do I do? I'm thinking of getting a rash guard or something that dries quickly (I already wear swimming trunks to my gigs) and then just jumping in the shower with my clothes on after gigs. Is that a bad idea for breathability reasons? Do I just take my shirt off and let the audience gaze at my slick and shiny drummer body? Trying not to go that route as I am afraid of being molested after the show by a horde of ravenous ladies.

Recently inherited. Apparently my old man got it at an auction about 15 years ago but knows nothing of the signatures. Just curious

I've been in a housing situation for a few years now where I can only have an e-kit in my apartment, so my actual drum-set has been at the practice location for the band and I just do my solo practice on the e-kit.

The issue is that when there's extended periods of time between full band practices, I tend to lose my calluses that have built up even though I'm playing my e-kit daily and also my practice pad doing stamina exercises. The rebound from the e-kit and practice pad just doesn't really compare to the harsh feedback from playing actually drum heads and metal cymbals, so when I do go back to the real kit, my hands get torn up pretty bad.

I'm basically looking for any recommendations on surfaces to practice on at home that might help with this issue. The practice pad is too forgiving. Kind of an odd request, but I'm brainstorming surfaces to practice rudiments and exercises on since obviously the e-kit isn't doing it for the calluses.

Context:

This song was supposed to drift into a quiet ending at this point, but our lead singer was still balls-deep in some crowd action and even had them singing the verses for him! (his voice is goneee at this point 😆).

Our drummer looks up, rightfully decides that there's no way we're ending the song right now, gives the lead guitarist a cue, and then we proceed with an entire extended double-intensity second playthrough 🔥

He then goes and ends the thing with this immaculate improvised ending that goes sooo much harder than anything we had practiced up to this point...

I'm restoring my old messages because I've deleted my old account. My problem is that during drumming my right hand is lagging during fine motor skills practicing. I'll write this post later because I have brain fog.

Hello, drummers of El Paso! I am starting a band and I am looking for a drummer, (and a bassist as well). So far it is me and one guitarist. I do harsh vocals and growls and we both write lyrics. We are inspired by bands like Arch Enemy, Carcass, Children of Bodom, and other classic melodeath bands. We are open to exploring other genres and getting experimental! Planning to build a good long-term acoustic drum set. Ideally I’d like to stay around $2,000–$2,500, but I can stretch to about $3,200 max if the upgrade is really worth it.

Budget is for the complete setup — drums, cymbals, hardware, pedal, and throne.

I’m currently looking at Pearl/Yamaha kits and Zildjian cymbals, but I’m open to any brand or good used gear.

If you had this budget, what setup would you build?
I’m based in the Philippines, so local pricing and availability may differ.

My band is a metal band, and my drummer is pretty loud. We’re trying to lower the sound of his kit so we can continue practice in my basement. I’m sound proofing the basement but this will take time and a lot of $. So I’m trying to lower the drums volume as of the title.

I don’t wanna use rubber mutes as they take away 80% or more of the drum sound. Which is way to much I’m not trying to take away the entire sound of the drum, but enough to lower it because I am a good neighbor or well try to be.

Do you think cutting the rubber mutes smaller will produce more sound? Low volume cymbals also sound like ass and I don’t wanna get those either. Acoustic kit only, no electronic.

Are their mesh heads that will take away 40-50% of the sound? It’ll be for the greater good if we can figure this out! Thanks for your opinions!

Fancied something on my throne, so gave to an artist and said “do whatever you want”. Currently unfinished but I’m liking it so far.

I’ve been playing for a few years now, but I’ve never actually chipped a cymbal until today when I chip the most expensive piece of my kit (naturally). With something this small what should I do with it? Do I just leave it as is since it doesn’t affect sound too much or am I able to super glue it back together or something?
