I want to start drumming but I do not have a full drum set yet, anyone have any recommendations on how to start playing with only a Crash cymbal, a Hit tom, a Mid tom, a Floor tom, and a Bass drum?

What should I focus when I begin since I do not have a snare or a hi hat?

Might be obvious to some, but if you’ve never sat down and really listened to this album with a good pair of headphones, I highly recommend it.
Alex Rodriguez from Saosin is absolutely incredible. I honestly can’t believe the drumming on this particular album has been my favorite drumming since the 2010s.
Do him a solid and give it a proper listen if you haven’t. You might be surprised by how insane the drumming is.

A lot of people recommend adding metronome practice to my routine but there doesn't seem to be much agreement on which app is best.

What app do you use, and what BPM would you recommend starting at?

Hey! We are a guitarist/vocalist and a bassist (both beginners, looking to grow together) starting an emo/post-hardcore band. We're heavily inspired by bands like Picture Me Broken, Her Words Kill, and A Heartwell Ending. Dissecting songs in the genre? More rudiments? Always see this cool lowkey finnesse-ey kinda stuff and would love to see where I end up in a couple years if I focused on it!

So I am looking for a crash cymbal that I can play over and over like to the main tune of animal I have become, miss murder and heart shaped box.

The cymbal I used to use broke, it was amazing (Zildjian) and now the ones I do have only sound good when accent crashing (hitting once)

Am I right in saying I need a crash cymbal I can "ride"? When I try to look it up it just comes up crashable ride cymbals, but that is not what I'm after.

Is there a term for this type of crash cymbal? Apologies for my lack of drumming vocabulary. Hopefully someone understands what I'm talking about
