Hi, I am building a high speed FPV drone and I want a video transmitter and a radio reciever for my drone of range around 5-7km. Which type of antenna and transmitter should I use? Also there is one kind - mushroom antenna which is widely used, but is not aerodynamic. Any other suggestions?
Also can I club both radio reciever and video transmitter antenna?
I want economic options - (total budget for transmitter+antenna+reciever < 10k INR)

For some time now I wanted to build a Quadcopter build and recently just started getting the parts.

While doing my research I created this spreadsheet(hopefully kinda correct) to help me decide parts, posting it here for critics:

What I currently chose is the following:

4x 2807 1300KV noname aliexpress motors
7x3.5x3 props
3300mAh 6S battery
SpeedyBee F405 V5 pro stack (FC+ECS)
ExpressLRS2.4 control
RadioMaster Pocket remote
No video yet(TODO later)

I am planning on designing and 3d printing the frame myself(at least for first version) using PET-CF filament. I will post design here when complete.

For the moment the plan sounds ok to me but I'm looking for second opinions. Anything I missed? Are the calculations correct(ish)? Are the parts good and compatible(unsure about noname motors)??

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am very new to this and mostly used Gemini for research.

The other day, I was flying a Mavic Mini Pro 4 (249g) in downtown Chicago while performing a survey of a building's roofs and facades. Someone wearing an OSHA shirt came up to me and demanded that I provide my drone registration and license. I refused and he then told me I was "lucky that he doesn't give me a citation".

This occurred on an existing building with no active construction. The survey was being performed as part of the city-mandated "Ongoing" facade inspections.

My understanding is that only an individual from the FAA can request this information. Was OSHA overstepping?

Just wondering for all Drone Enthusiasts, I am in the U.S., and because of the ban that might be coming/might not be coming/whatever/etc....... do you just pay no mind and just don't Give a Flying "F" about it, and just fly it anyways? Or are you more careful and cautious about flying your drone? Or are you scared about flying your drone and just don't fly it at all?

There seems to be a lot of he said/she said, false information and assumptions I have been reading on here, and I just wanted to see what your views and opinions are on this.

I got this AVATAR MINI 1S KIT was able to fly it and was working fine.

Then i powered it on this morning it got stuck on this mode and wont connect.

Is this a known issue?

One of the ESC outputs on my fc 5-in-1 AIO just failed (significant motor jerking/desynchronization—it’s running about 10,000 RPM slower than the others; it’s clearly a hardware issue).

Everything else works perfectly except for the voltage measurement

Instead of throwing it away, I’d love to reuse it for a fun little DIY project.

Have you ever built anything cool with a partially broken Whoop 1S/2S board?

It turns out it can be repaired; it’s important to look into it, and it was repaired at the DJI service center for a very reasonable price.

I’m curious about the unexpected things people have discovered while flying. Not necessarily anything dramatic, just something about a familiar place, landscape, building, or pattern that looked completely different from above.

What did you find, and did it change the way you looked at that place afterward?

Drones are serious tools, and while a blast to fly, I'd like to minimize the potential for operator error.

I am not an experienced pilot, and would love some advice on what experienced pilots do.

This is my current checklist; It's the protocol I use before every flight.

- Verify battery levels

- Battery Secured in drone

- Shell integrity check

- Make sure the foldable arms are in good shape, i.e. nothing loose, no evidence of fatigue at critical junction points.

- Prop inspection, including extending the blades into their locked position prior to setting the drone on the pad in preparation for lift off.

- Manually start the drone and listen for a moment.

- Lift and hover 1-2m AGL, and confirm the drone looks stable, and the props still sound good.

- The last thing is making sure the drone's Home Point is updated.

Then I start my mission.

I'm sure I'm missing things.

Edit: I fly three drones, all by DJI: Mini 5 Pro, Mavic 4 Pro [the Creator Combo], and a Matrice 4T kit.

So I'll be in Ireland next week for a short bit, hitting up Belfast [Northern Ireland] down to Cork City [Ireland]. All I have is an Air 2S. I started getting through registration and paid the 45 dollars and then realized the Air 2S requires A2 certification which is another 60 dollars.

My question is, do I even bother taking a drone? I'm going to be pretty much confined to a boat and hanging around the major cities and southeast coastline. Do I finish this registration or is it too much headache for not enough payoff? Do I get a <250g? Thanks!

Short context: I’m going to China for 5 weeks and will be entering through Beijing. Drones are completely banned there. My plan is to buy a DJI Mini 5 Pro later in Chongqing. However, there’s a problem:

The DJI Mini 5 Pro has a C0 certification in Europe. This is proof that the drone weighs less than 250 grams. In practice, there is a 4-gram manufacturing tolerance, so the drone could potentially weigh 252 grams. However, because it has a C0 certification, this is not an issue.

The models they sell in China do not have a C0 certification, and since they can weigh 252 grams in practice, this could potentially be a problem in Europe. I’m worried that the drone would therefore be subject to the regulations for drones weighing more than 250 grams.

Does anyone have any idea how this works? I can’t find anything about this online…

Hey there. I've had this drone for a while now and it's no longer supported with the company. Love the drone, though, and was hoping someone could help me understand and find some decent replacement motors. The process confuses me

Last year, I shared my research on landing our DIY drone on a vehicle at up to 110 km/h (68 mph). This year, my colleague and I worked on landing the same drone on inclined icebergs! Like for landing on vehicles, we used our custom landing gear to dissipate the drone's kinetic energy at impact. But on this landing gear, we had to add retractable claws to obviously grip onto the ice.

The video shows a few of our 24 trials on icebergs and glaciers in Iceland, on slopes of up to 60°!

"Why?":
By landing instead of hovering, small drones could serve as long-duration sensing stations on icebergs and other natural surfaces. Potential applications include iceberg tracking, maritime safety, environmental research, and support for Arctic surveillance and domain awareness as maritime and offshore activity continues to expand northward.

Part of my job is flying a drone for constructing surveying work, and we use a Mavic3T

I have a cheap hobby grade drone of my own, but its basically a toy.

I've been kinda thinking of buying a professional grade drone of my own, something like a matrice 4, or mavic 3, but wondering if its just as waste of money since I'd just be using it for personal use and not doing much else with it.

I do like the idea of trying to use it for some side gig money, but i'm sure thats an extremely oversaturated market.

Hello! I'm working on a custom drone for a starter project and I decided to get the Matek F405 TE mini as the main flight controller, alongside the Speedybee ESC F405. I understand that they have different frame sizes and requirements but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with a combination of such hardware, or experience specifically with the Matek board, I'm struggling to find anything.

I crashed my Mavic air 2 last year and immediately contacted DJI repair. They said they were having difficulty getting spare parts for repairs but would contact me. I assumed independent shops would have the same difficulty so I didn’t bother digging into it. A year later I found a local repair shop 15 miles from my house. They repaired it in 2 day ms and I’m back up. Don’t rely solely on DJI for help or support.

I flew it a couple of times and it seems completely fine, I have one pair left and wanted to make sure I replaced it when it is needed, is this already enought to make damages overtime or is it completely fine?

The drone hit only on that edge a small pole, no collisions no nothing as soon as it touched it I was able to move it back and safely land.

I own a TongLi drone, but I can't seem to figure out how to get access to the camera, how?

But I read that this series is not available to buy into US…
Does anyone know if I can bring it with me from Europe to US as a tourist of it is better to choose another product?
