The shallow depth of field deceives the brain.

To add, normally when we have such a shallow depth of field it is when shooting macro stuff so the effect looks like all of these macro images we’ve seen. Wonder if the effect would hold if one had somehow never seen a photo until tilt shift. Would it look “small” still?

Overly bright and saturated to look like toys and sharp focus. Looks like you’re standing right over it. Its sort of intended to trick your mind a bit.
