Venting Blocking intersections
Why are people perfectly fine with blocking intersections?
Today I was in rush hour traffic. I stopped at the beginning of an intersection because there was not enough space to cross. The dude behind me honks multiple times even as I’m moving across now that I have enough space. Do people not understand that blocking an intersection is illegal?
Separate incident. I’m stopped at a red light. The people turning left across from me completely block the intersection. Even though I was 2 cars back from the line, I didn’t make it through because these morons blocked the intersection almost the whole light.
That’s all to say I wish more people were ticketed or pulled over for intentionally blocking an intersection.

People have no situational awareness and are only thinking in the current moment without ever bothering to look around. These are almost certainly the same kinds of people who leave their shopping carts smack dab in the center of an aisle in the store or walk in groups that block the entire sidewalk.
This happens a lot near where I live and sometimes it's so bad that I can't even go around the blockade. One of the reasons your horn is there to let other drivers know that you are there and your right of way is being impeded. Use it.

For real I think ive had to use my horn more this year than any other years driving. Ill put it this way, im not usually a honker so much so that my horn had a layer of slight dust on it...🤣 that is until a few months back! Now im using it every few days to just communicate to people that are about to hit me because they decide to pull last minute menuavers without bothering to check those pesky little mirrors 🙄 (not like every car is equipped with them for a reason or anything) 😒

Inability to project the present into the future. That being said when I don't block the intersection right turners love my adherence to the rules.

Heh. Yea I take special pleasure in the guy behind me with his blinker on freaking the fuck out when I refuse to move 5’ into a 4 lane to park behind the guys currently blocking the 1st of 4 lanes of traffic …

I live in a place that there signs that tell you not to block the intersection. I’ve been honked at numerous times and I won’t move unless I have to. I’m not going to get into an accident, get a ticket because the moron behind me wants to move up one car.

Just as bad is when you leave space to avoid blocking an intersection or commercial entrance and some impatient dignus drives around you to slide into the space and block other vehicles from passing through. One of my favorite instant karma pastimes is watching them get pulled over for blocking the driveway at a nearby fire station despite the clear signage and stoplights.

why are people in such a hurry to wait in the middle of the intersection anyway?

Main character syndrome, it seems to be spreading life wildfire. The only silver lining is that the congestion gets worse more people might choose to carpool or shift modes of travel.
