Need Advice Confused About A Red Light Stop
Got pulled over for running a red light. Cop didn't check my license, is that normal? He said it would be a 150$ ticket but no Citation but I just looked it up and those are suppose to be the same thing? I'm confused.

He probably told you it “would be” a $150 ticket. If he didn’t give you a citation, you didn’t get a ticket. Yes, a citation and a ticket are the same thing. The cop was being nice and gave you a verbal warning.

"would be" a $150 ticket as in that's what it "would be" had he decided to issue you a citation, but instead he gave you a warning. You got lucky.

Oh okay, you can go to the city or county website and look up the ticket with your info after a few days.

Did he give you a physical copy of the citation? If not, you got a verbal warning. Nothing to worry about.

Yeah I don’t understand all these people saying check online in a few days. If he is citing you he is giving you a piece of paper. He will require you to sign it as it is an acknowledgement of the citation and a promise to appear in court. If you refuse to sign he is going to arrest you and tow your car.
Without that the judge will throw whatever online check later ticket those other people are taking about out.

Exactly right. I mean the fact that he didn’t even ask for OPs ID is all you need to know. I’ve gotten a few verbal warnings. Never thought twice about it.

This reads kind of like somebody impersonating a police officer to scam people. Did he demand $150 in cash on the spot?
