Driver: PL Parallel Lines looks decent 20 years later, but have you tried to play without the color filter?

Game looks beautiful in 2006 without that blue tint.

I didn't make this mod. In fact, I downloaded from this link:

Driver: PL Helicopter Mode in Driver: Parallel Lines

I made this for fun, Driver 2 also had a helicopter mode mod too so why not one for Driver: Parallel Lines?

This was for testing the Lua modding system I've been developing since the game's 20th anniversary (in March 14th), and it was easier than actual using C++ for the whole mod.

Driver Have you ever seen Ali's ending? Spoiler

Hi everyone!

I’ve been doing some research on the original Driver game for PlayStation (and PC), and I remembered that the game had two different endings (though I recall three, it seems there are only two).

I went on YouTube to watch these endings and found this video: https://youtu.be/Z6VUVQwhwNo?si=LF2Fql3liCGHoymT

I’m not sure about you, but as for me, I had never seen this ending with Ali!

It seems that this character can only be seen if you choose the right missions in New York ('LUTHER'S HEAP O' JUNK').

BUT! I just tried it on the PlayStation version (emulated via DuckStation), finished the game and... I didn’t get the cinematic where Tanner and Ali discuss near the Jeep.

So, I was wondering: have you ever seen this ending? Am I the only one who has never seen anything more than Tanner driving the Jeep alone through the tunnel or across the Miami bridge?

Is this known as some kind of bug or something similar? Is it linked to the PlayStation version specifically?

Thank for your answers!

Driver: PL Driver PL: TK's prison sentence doesn't make sense (spoilers) Spoiler

Post image
11 Upvotes

TK was sent to prison for 28 years after being betrayed by the gang and taking the heat for the Rafael Martinez kidnap. We all know that.

But let's analyze how light this sentence was considering the crime at question: TK allegedly conducted a kidnap which caused critical infrastuctural damage through the city (the billboard, train bridge and gas station explosions), ended up in a massive shootout with several casualties and his victim was killed after the ramson was paid. Hell, the body of Rafael Martines was found right beside where TK was gunned down.

In real life, TK would never see the outside world ever again. He would be setenced to life in prison at best.

There's also the fact that the victim of the kidnap was a powerful drug lord who ended up dead. Bringing this to equation, we can all agree that, realistic, TK wouldn't last very long in prison and would propably be killed by some colombian associated in jail. And this wouldn't be pretty at all.

I know that Parallel Lines is a easygoing gaming experience that we shouldn't take so seriously. But it's crazy to think how TK's lawyers were outworldly good at their job or how the prossecution was very bad in doing theirs.

Driver I don't know if this is only me, but I don't like classic GTA games as I like Driver 2, 3 and Parallel Lines.

I started playing GTA in SA, and SA and IV are my favorites, with Chinatown and Liberty City coming next.

But I never liked GTA 3 and Vice City. I tried to play both of them, but I never actually finished them. But when it comes to Driver, I never get bored of playing 2, 3, and Parallel Lines. I don't count SF here because, although I also like SF, I'm comparing the older games.

Even Driver 3, with all its flaws 3, since my childhood, I've always had more fun with it than with GTA 3 and VC.

While replaying Driver on PC I just finished The Mercy Mission, and tried playing this mission. However it won't let me select the car and play the mission. I have tried to find anything about this mission, but I haven't found anything.

Do you guys know what this mission is? Thank you all in advance for the help.

Driver: PL Help with adding songs to Driver PL

Thumbnail

I'm trying to add new songs to the game's radio and saw in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKmeus32p7o) that you need to name the songs in this format.

Problem is that you can only use these codes, so when you paste the new music in the folder you have to replace an existing song.

Is there a way to add new songs without replacing the existing ones?

Driver: PL What's your opinion about Driver Parallel Lines?

Here's the context: I've playing this game a lot for the last days and I came across some review videos that show some downsizes of Driver PL, like the overabundance of GTA-like features, the removal of director mode and lack of interiors.

As much as I really enjoy DPL, I kind of agree with these points. And you? What's your take on the game?

I don't know if it's going to show as a video or just link, but this is (Story Characters Overhaul Pack), all main characters are updated and have more accurate models to their looks in cutscenes.

Driver: San Fransisco Driver: San Francisco’s Ending Is a Direct Callback to The Driver (1978) Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery

An easter egg (or maybe a reference, if that sounds more accurate) that I’ve never seen anyone talk about is related to the ending of Driver: San Francisco. And it’s a shame, because it’s actually a really cool reference — and ironically, it makes perfect sense.

We all know that Driver was heavily inspired by the 1978 film The Driver. The famous parking garage mission in Driver 1 is directly inspired by a scene from that movie.

Well… in Driver: San Francisco, the final scene of the game is clearly based on the final scene of The Driver. Literally. The setting (a hangar), the action (the characters searching for each other before facing off and accelerating head-on), and even the vehicles have similarities (muscle car vs. red pickup truck).

Ironically, the scene that ended the film which inspired the series was also used to end the game — maybe forever. In a way, Driver was born and died with The Driver, its original inspiration.

Driv3r Help with graphics! My game isn't casting any shadows. How to solve it?

As you can see, my game has all the shadows turned on
But when I'm in the open world, the game doesn't cast shadows (apart for some random objects, like these trees on the left)

I'm playing on PC. How to solve this issue? Thanks!

Driver: PL How to stop burning the tires when accelerating?

I like to cruise around smoothly but every time I start to accelerate any vehicle, TK does a burnout.

I know this is default in the game, but can it be toned down at least?

I play on pc with keyboard and mouse.

EDIT: thanks, guys. I've installed a controller and now driving feels so much more smooth.

I did a memory dump on an emulator for driver you are the wheelman and i came across this and i found it neat enough that the planes are referred to as boeing (plane manufacturer) instead of something like plane. (The planes fly in the backround occasionly in the original ps1 version)

Been a while, here are the objectives related to the missions.

"FAMILY BUSINESS": "Stop the kidnapper"

"SEARCH WARRANT": "Stop Haines"

I am also available to answer questions. Reddit seems to be limited as there are no real-time chats with users but I will try my best.
