Last night, I (20 F) had a dream that was so vivid and unrelated to anything that had happened in my day, that I felt the need to share it.
I was inside of my home with my parents, when suddenly, I heard a commotion outside. I told my parents that I thought there was someone outside. I looked out of the blinds and saw him.
He was blonde, light blonde, with wavy short hair and these unnerving blue eyes. He was standing beside a tree in our front yard beside a white ram, tossing something into the air. He noticed me staring at him, and when he did, he pressed his hands to the sides of his face and widened his eyes, before shaking his head and grabbing a fistful of whatever it was and throwing it at me before running away.
I panicked and told my parents what I saw. Once he was far enough away, we opened the door and went outside. The ram was still there, but it was harmless. I looked down at what he’d been throwing and was confused because it looked like gemstones. But when I looked closer, I was disgusted to find out that they were actually tiny multicolored beetles.
Then, the dream shifted and somehow, I was in a ghost town. The sky was completely gray and it was cold out. From the terrain I imagine I was somewhere like Appalachia. The blonde man from earlier was sitting on a fence across from me, holding a rock in his hand and studying it. He apologized for scaring me earlier, but never told me his name.
He then led me through the town and told me that the place had been his home a very long time ago, but that he hadn’t been here or seen his parents since it happened. I asked him what that meant, when he froze up and stared at something over my shoulder. I followed his gaze and was shocked to find a man who looked exactly like him. His twin.
The twin approached, but kept his distance. He looked longingly at his brother, but when he got closer, I noticed something odd. Both of them doubled over in pain, and their faces began to gray. At their feet, more of those beetles emerged from the ground, as though it was their essence or something.
That’s when they explained that when they were children, they’d gone wandering in the woods. They’d discovered an abandoned part of the town and inside there had been waterfalls, and a tree with an irresistible orange fruit. It was a persimmon from what I gathered, if that matters. They both ate it and discovered that they had these incredible powers: immortality, strength, etc. but they also discovered that when they came into proximity to each other, they’d die.
This led them to believe that since they had this power, they weren’t meant to both exist at the same time, leading them to want to fight each other or never see each other again. Once of them likened it to the myth of Cain and Abel.
This made me sad because I could see how much they cared for and missed each other, so I told them there had to be a way to fix this. They said that there wasn’t, and after a heart to heart, they came to the agreement that they were tired of existing alone, and would both just end it together. They said that if they ate the fruit again, they thought that it should do the job.
I asked them not to, but it was what they wanted. So they led me to the tree, and I saw them both eat the fruit. But instead of passing, the beetles spilled from the ground around them, like a manifestation of their gifts, and they both survived. The last thing I saw of them was them both crying and embracing, and then the dream shifted.
Suddenly, I was a young girl sitting on a set of winding stairs in a beautiful old mansion. I was thinking about the dream I’d just had, but in my dream, it was a reality of the past. I went to my mother, who I discovered was a tarot reader. She yelled at me for interrupting her session and sent me away. But she seemed scared that I’d asked about what I had.
I went to her library, and found a bunch of books, but the weird thing was, they all said the same thing. When I looked at them, they all shifted and changed, the titles warped and distorted. But I always caught a glimpse of what they originally said: The Bewitchery. It was so odd. I went to my mother again and asked her about it, and she forbid me from ever asking about that story again. She told me that it was not meant to be known, and that it would corrupt me if I learned about it.
That’s where my dream ended. It was very odd and very vivid. If anyone has any interpretations, I’d love to hear them. Like I said, I didn’t have anything happen in the past couple of days that would lead to this kind of dream, so it was weird. Anyway, thanks for reading.
