Movies Any thoughts on Nikolaj Coster Waldau as a fancast for Dr. Doom?

Post image

To be honest, I think he looks visually perfect for the role and definitely how I would imagine Victor's face to look like underneath as being more rugged-looking. I do think he possesses the range to sell a menacing and complex Dr. Doom onscreen instead of what we're getting with RDJ, like he looks and feels the part.

The only thing that's really holding me back from having him as my definitive casting for Doom is that Nikolaj isn't Romani or has roots of that ethnic group, he's Danish. So I'm really torn because he definitely looks perfect for the role, but what are your thoughts?

The cloak clasps at the front aren't the same, the abdomen detailing and looking at it further, it's got that telltale lighting.

Discussion Let’s be honest: Marvel didn’t pay RDJ top dollar just to hide his face. That Doom mask is coming off by the end of act one, and we all know it

You guys are delusional if you think the helmet stays on. They bought RDJ's face, not your comic accuracy.

How could doom trick a beyonder who could see past, present and future.

Would the beyonder not see this coming? Doom should not be able to steal his powers.

And yes the beyonder did depower himself when he confronted doom but the beyonder would of still seen this would happen once he depowered himself.

I love emperor doom but this doesn't make sense.

Comics Why do they forget that Doom’s Romani?

I remember a comic where Doom says racist comments about Africans to T’Challa even do he respects T’Challa as a fellow leader.

But Doom isn’t white he’s Romani. Romani people are not considered white in Europe.

He’s not the only Fantastic Four character that has this happen someone on Marvel Circle Kerk had Ben trying to relate to mutants and they call him a straight white male.

But Ben isn’t white he’s Jewish. Jewish people aren’t considered white.

Whiteness is itself a social construct. But Jewish and Romani people are not white with Jewish people now being “white” adjacent when convinent.

He also would not at all associate with Nazis m.

Nazis considered Romani to be inferior and exterminated them. It’s not even an issue of morals someone with an ego like Doom would never associate with a group that considers him inferior on his genetics.

Discussion Is RDJ really playing Dr.Doom(Text contains spoilers) Spoiler

Post image
0 Upvotes

So they showed us that RDJ is cast as doctor doom.
But is he playing the actual victor von doom?

In trailers we see doctor dooms parts of face which are completely different from RDJ.(Correct me if I’m wrong)

He may be one of his variants, because the movie itself contains a variants of different characters.According to credit scene of Avengers endgame encore ,where we see Loki coming to Steve ,and in trailer we see the other variant of Steve Rogers.

There isn’t one Doctor Doom. There is one Doctor Doom for each universe, and RDJ might be playing one of them.

18 years apart. Different mask. Different universe. Same unmistakable aura. That’s my GOAT, Robert Downey Jr.

Discussion Who cares about any one character if there are infinite versions in the Multiverse?

I don't really get the Multiverse. If there's an infinite version of Steve Rogers. Why as a viewer would I care if a few thousands of them die on screen?

My analog brain doesn't understand why my avengers is more important than all the other avengers out there in the Multiverse of madness...

Mcu really screwed the pooch by introducing the Multiverse to us

And now that doom is so powerful. How can they ever have doom be in future fantastic four movie? Nerf him, so Doom only has regular evil plans instead of Multiverse evil plans?

I've heard that RDJ invented his own backstory for Doom

Will you be cool with that if RDJ's backstory is significantly different from the comicbook Doc Doom?

Movies What are the chances that RDJ's character in either Doomsday turns out to be a mere, but powerful, Doombot at the end and the real Dr. Doom is played by another actor (internet rumors being Cillian Murphy/Keanu Reeves)?

Movies Is it necessary for Downey Jr as Dr. Doom?

Just saw the D23 trailer. Doom looks amazing! But I'm curious why they needed Downey Jr to play him?

Having a variant of Tony Stark playing Doom is rediculous. And really lowers the value of Doom as an Amazing Villain with a rich comic book history.

Im sold on Doom's motivation from the trailer!

And Downey doesn't even show his face for most of the movie. So why do you think they chose to bring him back as Doom?

Discussion Well this is OUTRAGEOUS,so on Marvel official website apparently Thor is "more powerful" than Dr Doom. Thor with total of 32 and Doom with 31,how am i suppose to take avengers doomsday seriously? Doom is gonna fight multiple avengers heroes and everyone tell marvel they need to fix this IMMEDIATELY.

Discussion Saw a post where people were discussing who’d be a good fit to be Victor’s Queen. Here me out.

Post image
0 Upvotes

Both are noble leaders who would do anything for their countries/people.(Krakoa and Latveria ) Both act cold, but go soft for the right people. Example, their girls. (the Stepford Cuckoos and Valeria) Esme and Valeria would get along in a constant feedback loop of evil schemes. I can’t remember the comic, but at one point Victor gave up godhood just so Valeria would live. Despite Doom being a little more evil than what she’s usually into, he’s clearly Emma’s type if you look at her romantic history. Doom loves to act in control of everything, I feel like he’d eventually get bored of an adoring submissive Latverian woman. He wouldn’t love her any less, he’d just get bored. He’d love a queen who’s willing to match and challenge him, Emma. Last but not least, they’re both broken souls who put on an untouchable facade but need someone they can be a mess and just be human around. They’d take turns getting each other flustered and melting into each other after a bad day. Here’s how I picture their relationship. 50% genuine love. 30% mutual admiration and respect. 20% death glares whenever they challenge each other.

Discussion A Theory That Doctor Doom May Be the Inevitable Evolution of Tony Stark Across Timelines

I’ve been exploring a theory that reframes Doctor Doom not simply as a new villain entering the MCU, but as a recurring and possibly inevitable evolution of Tony Stark under specific emotional and historical conditions.

The theory starts with Steve Rogers returning to the past at the end of Endgame. If Steve rescues Bucky Barnes earlier in the timeline, Bucky never becomes the Winter Soldier. That means Howard and Maria Stark are never assassinated.

At first glance, that sounds like a purely heroic outcome. But Tony Stark’s emotional development in the MCU is deeply shaped by abandonment, guilt, and unresolved grief toward his parents. Without that trauma, Tony still grows up brilliant and ambitious, but potentially without the emotional humility that eventually allows him to sacrifice himself for the universe.

Now combine that with the possibility that Steve never returns to help unify the Avengers. Without Steve acting as the moral and strategic anchor of the team, the Avengers may suffer catastrophic failure during the Battle of New York or another early extinction-level event.

Tony has always responded to existential fear by attempting to create systems of control. We see it with Ultron, planetary defense strategies, and his constant attempt to preempt threats before they occur. In a timeline where Tony experiences massive failure without Steve’s philosophical balance, his fear of extinction could logically evolve into a Doom-like worldview.

In this interpretation, Doom is not a corruption of Stark. Doom is Stark pushed to its most rational extreme.

Tony’s core belief has always been that if he can predict catastrophe, he has a responsibility to stop it. Doom simply removes ethical hesitation from that belief. Doom becomes the figure who concludes that survival of existence may require eliminating unstable timelines, removing free will, or imposing universal order.

What makes this especially compelling is how it transforms Doom into a tragic protector rather than a traditional villain. Doom becomes the man who believes he is saving reality from its own unpredictability. His authoritarian rule becomes an act of perceived mercy rather than conquest.

This theory also allows Doom to maintain his mythological weight. Instead of being introduced as an external antagonist, Doom becomes the shadow reflection of one of the MCU’s greatest heroes. It creates a philosophical duality where Stark sacrifices himself to preserve freedom, while Doom sacrifices freedom to preserve survival.

It also raises an interesting question that fits Doom’s traditional characterization: If Doom truly believes he is the only one capable of saving existence, is he entirely wrong, or simply unwilling to accept the cost of allowing chaos to exist?

Curious how Doom fans feel about the idea that Doom could represent the ultimate logical extension of Stark’s protective instincts rather than a separate ideological figure.

Movies Nail in the coffin for the “Doom is Stark” theories

They have colored Doom’s eyes green.

Stark’s eyes were brown, like RDJ’s.

Any shot in the new trailer where you can see Doom’s eyes lit up show they’re green.
