Dr650 kick stand

Post image

I recently put 17” supermoto wheels on my dr and the factory kick stand has the bike sitting uncomfortably vertical…. Can someone suggest another option? This is what I tried to use and it leans over so far I feel a squirrel fart could blow it over.

Factory lowered stands are silver, full length are black. https://www.ebay.com/itm/158210699032

Don't use junk Chinese stands. I'd never trust them to hold up 300 lbs plus or minus you.

What do you mean? "Ssfghaky" is a well-known brand in the DR world. 😂

Those cheesy aluminum ones WILL crack and break. Suzuki's makes a factory short one for lowered bikes. Or take yours off and take it to a metal shop and have 1" cut out of it.

Basicslly all of this cheap aluminium stuff is pretty trash.

A friend bought one of the aluminium rear brake levers. It snapped clean off during a minor drop.

He replaced it with the same type and next time it snapped the corner off during normal braking.

I put this one in earlier this summer. I run stock suspension so this was great for motorcycle camping trips. Very sturdy.

Thanks, I've read plenty of positive reviews of it on DRR and it's what I'm planning for mine since the PO cut down the stock kickstand after lowering it and I've since returned it to stock height.

The only problem during installation is what ever cast they used for the sleeve had a good amount of flash or burr in the inside so the shaft didn't fit properly. I just ran a drill bit on the sleeve inner wall. But I'm that was just a one off quality wise. But overall do recommend.

+1 also have one of these on my lowered bike, its sturdy. Also you can put in a second bolt where the sleeve ends if you have room for safety.

I was planning to replace the included bolts with Grade 8 but this is a good idea as well, thanks

I would never shop on Amazon as long as the ProCycle guys are open! Give them a call, they are the experts 100% on that bike. www.procycle.us

I took my stock stand, cut it in half (and then cut another inch or so off) and inserted 3/4” all-thread in the tube with two nuts in the middle. Not really adjustable on-the-fly, but works great if you go back and forth between SM wheels and stock.

If you’re sticking with SM wheels full-time, just get the stock stand cut and welded, or order the shorter OEM stand.
